The first thing you should try is removing the batteries for 20 to 30 minutes to reset the unit. If this does not work push in on the cassette mechanism at the top while trying to eject. Also check the tape compartment cover screws to make sure they are tight. Any misalignment in the cover mechanism will cause binding which will create the problem you describe. Finally, and I know this will sound unusual, slap the unit on the cassette side. Forcefully but not enough to break anything. This procedure has been helpful many times with similar problems. I know it is not sientific but hey if it works. If none of the procedures solves your problems you may need professional help. Same problem, same frustration. Just flashing, won't open to insert tape, Battery relatively new. Is there any way to get it to open to put in tape? I hate this technology, not along far enough.

1. I removed the battery. 2. With the power switch On position and holding the tape ejected I inserted the battery back on & it ejected the stuck tape.

SOURCE: VCR tape is stuck - will not rewind or eject.

There schould be a release buuton on the rear of the machine. It's usually recessed and may be difficult to see. Press this with the yip if a ballpoint pen and extract the tape. If the tape is wrapped around the record/playback heads your only option is to remove the top cover and manually remove the tape. Sounds difficult but if you take your time it's not too bad a job.

Testimonial: "Thank you! - no button - took the top off. I depressed a lever next to the tape switched the VCR back on and pressed the eject button - it worked!"

I have a Sony Handycam CCD-TR61. It has worked fine until today. It will not accept a tape. If I close the door without a tape it closes and completely shuts like it is supposed to. But if I put in a tape...

Many times it's a belt slipping. Since the tape isn't pulled into position, it's rewound and the tape ejected. A damaged or mal-adjusted switch could cause this too. The most you can do is blow it out with compressed air to see if that helps. I doubt there are many thing the end user could do.

Tape won't eject from CCD-TRV608

There is a little plastic piece on the tape and it is getting stuck, you have to maually move this piece, witha paper clip or something else. it might break the piece off, but that is the only way I know to get it out.

Tape will not eject

If you remove the power while the basket is halfway up, you should be able to remove the door. Then look to see if the reels are turning when you try to elect the tape. The error code you are getting indicates the reels are not turning for some reason. You can ssist the reels turning as the tape is ejected if you have a small plastic pick or a toothpick into the reels to assist the reels turning and tehn you may be able to remove the tape.

Can not eject tape

I had same problem, while transferring media from TRV-16 to DVD, tape would not play, then would not eject. This after transferring several tapes to DVD. I tried several things over the last couple months that did not work before finally getting it open today. It did me no good to remove several of the outer panels that were each held by two "tiny" phillips head screws each. Went to the internet, found your post, also found a post that referred me back to SONY page which follows.......

Follow this procedure to troubleshoot if the cassette compartment will not open or the tape is stuck and will not eject.
IMPORTANT: If your camcorder model has a RESET button, first try pressing this button. If there is no RESET button, or pressing the button does not resolve the issue, continue with the troubleshooting steps below.
  1. Turn off the camcorder.
  2. Remove the battery from the camera.
  3. Remove the AC power supply from the camera.
  4. Slide the power switch on the camera to the VTR , VCR or CAMERA mode for 15 seconds.
  5. Slide the power switch back to the OFF position.
  6. Connect the AC power supply to the camera.
  7. Attempt to open the cassette compartment.
"NOTE: If the issue is still unresolved after completing all of the troubleshooting steps, service may be required."

After I did this, I could hear a whirring sound when I hit eject, although nothing came out. While the whirring was going on, I pulled up and out with constant pressure and the cassette holder opened. The tape had jammed apparently as the little protective plastic tape guard was jammed partially open when I pulled the cassette out. Good Luck and don't be afraid to put a little pressure on the door if you can hear the door trying to open.

Now I turn to recovering the tape, but having grown up with cassette decks, don't believe it will be a problem.

Tape ejects every 60 to 90 seconds regardless of the mode the camera is in

The flip up cover over the cassette housing has the "eject" button built into it. Sony has had problems with the flexible harness that connects this door to the camera body. The harness rubs against the metal frame of the camera and causes various malfunctions such as the constant eject symptom you are having. Sony service in Laredo, TX can repair this for you, it is no big deal. Good luck, this is a nice camera! Joe Weibel customelectronics.org
