Question about Westinghouse Televison & Video

Open Question

My Westinghouse WE58UL4218 LED TV has stopped responding to my remotes, (either the TV or Cable).

For a few weeks it has displayed a grey snow screen alternating every few seconds with a black screen for as much as 30 seconds before coming on completely.

SOURCE: TV shuts down

Remove the lamp assembly, There will be a screen on the top and bottom of the assy remove all dust from these screens. also check the tube at the top of of the lamp receptical this is an air cooling pathway. reassemble and fire it up. This worked for me and saved some serious coin judging from some of the other solutions I have seen (lamp and balast) ouch!!!

Try reinstalling the gpu driver. If the problem still persists, the screen may be going out.

You can also try a hard reset: Unplug TV from AC mains and remove all cables from TV. Wait about 30 minutes and replug to AC power and redo the cabling. Switch on the TV and see if it works..

I believe 4 blinks is fan error. You can take back off and watch fans in particular the fan for the lamp (this one goes out the most) The TV has a sensor so it knows if the fan turns. You can take a pencil and use it to spin fan sometimes that will jump start it (not a permanent fix just a test). You can try cleaning dust off fan and replugging the connector on the wires coming from fan.Might fix it if not fan will need replacement.

How do i get cable tv on my westinghouse tv

Go to the menu look for the input settings make sure it is set for cable not air. There might be a input button on the side of tv or on remote that will let you select which input to use. It will have to be set on cable thin scan for channels.

My Westinghouse TV was working just fine, but stopped turning on after I had issues with the cable box. Those are resolved, but I can't get it to turn on. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?

Patience may be the key--It may be substrate charge phenomenon--
Disconnect everything from the TV, including power cord and all ins & outs and wait awhile (3 days is sufficient) to let the internal charges bleed off. Reconnect TV and try it again. It sounds like a power surge (or lightning strike nearby) jammed a temporary "substrate charge" onto TV's circuitry.

The image display on my Westinghouse 42" LED TV does not fit the screen. It is zoomed in, so when watching sports, i cannot see the score and time ticker.

Using the remote go to the menu for the TV. Look for picture or aspect ratio. Make sure it is set to 16:9 and not zoom or auto. That should clear the problem up.

I have a Philips CL043 universal remote. I can't find th tv code for a Westinghouse lcd tv.. can you help?

You can find codes for the remote here: http://www.urc.philips.com/ . Then look up the CL043 and click on the remote code finder. This is also called the SRU3004WM by Philips.

A Westinghouse TV should responds to one of the following codes: 0915, 0013, 1216, 0300 if the TV was released 6 months before the remote was programmed or earlier. (Whte Westinghouse codes are different.)

If those codes do not work, there is a manual code search option. With the TV on, press and hold Setup on the remote until the red indicator stays lit. Then press and release quickly the TV button on the remote (the LED will blink once). Then press the Channel Up button until the TV responds (up to 300 times). If you overshoot, press Channel Down to go back to the previous code. Press and release the Mute button to set the code. Check if the remote performs all the needed functions. If it doesn't, repeat the above steps to find another code.

I hope this helps.

(if the remote is older than the TV, you may need a newer universal remote.)
