SOURCE: Kenmore Elite Dishwasher Problem

The dishwasher should have a thermal fuse mounted to the control board behind the operator console4.gif. It is a small silver colored device4.gif attached to a white plactic bracket. In some model dishwashers the wrong gage wiring was used causing the wires to heat up and trip the thermal fuse. There was no apparent risk of fire or anything like that, but the thermal fuses didn't tolerate the heat differential too well. A fix for the problem was to purchase a thermal fuse replacement kit (found at most appliance repair stores) that had thicker wires. The part number for the thermal fuse kit is 959376 and the price is $16.85. You can find it at repairclinic.com. Order on line and have the part shipped directly to you. Now...to access the control board perform the following:

1. Turn off the main breaker to the dishwasher. This is important. Even though the dishwasher is not running, the control board still has live voltages present.
2. Open dishwasher door and remove the top screws that hold the console in place. You shouldn't have to remove the lower screws unless you plan on removing the entire door panel.
3. The control panel should pull off from the front enough to where you can access the control board. There is a thermal fuse mounted on the board with two wire leads going to it. The fuse is silver in color and mounted to a plastic bracket which is mounted to the control board.
4. Cut the wires on the old fuse and splice the new fuse kit to it. Leave plenty of wire to accommodate. There will be instructions included with your replacement kit. Ensure you follow the direction thoroughly and tighten the wire lug screws securely.

NOTE: Do not attempt to reuse the existing wires by simply unplugging the old fuse and replacing it with the new one (been there). The fuse will eventually blow again. Follow the instructions provided and you can't go wrong.

If you have any further quesitons, or if you run into trouble during your repairs, let me know. Good luck to you.

PS If you do not wish to order on line, take the part number I provided you to any major appliance repair shop4.gif and they SHOULD have the part available. This is a known problem and a common fail item.

SOURCE: Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher LIghts are blinking....

I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.

SOURCE: Kenmore dishwasher, model 665.170 344 01. "Clean" light keeps flashing and will not stop. Have tried everything in the manual and the light still will not stop flashing.

If the clean light flashes 7 times, pauses then repeats...

If the dishwasher doesn't sense a water temperature increase, it will stop working and lock the functions (clean light flashes 7 times, all buttons are non responsive).

To resolve this you will have to reset the console. Do this by closing the door and press these buttons in sequence...

-high temp wash
-heated dry
-high temp wash
-heated dry

...all the lights will turn on briefly and the machine will start a diagnostic cycle. You can press cancel or let the diagnostic cyle finish (1-2 minutes).
You should now be able to run the dishwasher as normal.

If the issue returns, you could have a problem with the heating circuit (ie. element, thermostat or wiring). It rarely happens but it could also be the door switch not engaging properly when the door is closed (slightly bend the door latch down making sure it doesn't hit the door when you close it).

How do I reset the kenmore ultra wash model #: 665.15812990. It has completely stopped working.

Hi,

First make sure you have power to the dishwasher, breaker or fuse is good, outlet (if so equipped) is powered etc.

If you have not lost power to the dishwasher then the most likely failure that causes this would be the thermal fuse that is located in the console.

It is a temperature controlled device that can trip if there is a lot of heat in the control area.

If you want to tackle the repair it is not too difficult and requires a basic understanding of electricity and an ohmmeter.

The part number for the fuse is 675813 and is about $10.00. It is located right behind the buttons on the control panel, here is a picture of the part.

Dishwasher just stopped working

Hi there,

Well first of all you can check that there should be power from the house, Is there power getting to the dishwasher? This can be difficult to test, because dishwashers are usually wired directly to an electrical circuit, rather than plugged into the wall. But at least check for a blown fuse or a tripped circuit breaker.
Then you can check the door switch, the door switch is important because, if it's defective, the dishwasher won't work at all. To reach it, you need to remove the control panel cover, or sometimes the interior liner of the door. If it's defective, you need to replace it.

Good Luck!!

Thanks

Sears model 665 ultra dishwasher has no power, breaker not blown but nothing works,no lights nothing

There is a thermal fuse located in the control panel that is probably blown out.
Open the control panel by removing the 6 screws around the top inside of the door. The thermal fuse is located on the top right side. Remove the wires from the fuse. Use a volt neter set for continuity to test the fuse. No reading is a bad fuse.
This link will show the fuse.

The dishwasher won't start

nine, when you said the buttons work, do you mean they can be depressed and you feel the clicking? Well if the unit lights up with the indicator light showing power is on then check the float assy it maybe stuck in the up postion and if no power check house breaker/fuse and if ok then the thermal fuse is open somewhere depending on your series of dish washer and generally req some electrical knowledge to follow the electrical ladder diagram ..... this is the only thing I would look for before calling the repairman...

NO POWER TO DISHWASHER

hi there,

if the motor hums, that means you have power to the dishwasher and it's just the display that does not work.

if the motor is not running, it's definitely the control board.

most dishwashers in Canada are wired into the electrical circuit in the house, so if the power goes out, it take the dishwasher with it.

Kenmore Dishwasher, no power

There will be a thermal fuse located on the electronic control board housing that may have failed. This replaceable part (gray or white) is clipped on to the side of the plastic housing.

Kenmore 17052 is not working

Could be the electrical connection to the machine (behind toe panel), a fuse near the electronic control, the door switches, or the electronic control. P.S. is there a switch behind the counter, or under the sink which powers the dishwasher?
