Most likely the safety fuse in the device might had gone. Before that check the mains chord which generally give way at their junction with the plug or socket.

SOURCE: Canon PIXMA ip4500 will not turn on

Sounds like the power outage was a power surge and destroyed your printer, especially if your printer was not plugged into a power surge protector strip. Check with others in your apartment to see if they experienced the same. If so, your landlord may be responsible and can put in a claim. If your printer is still under warranty, contact Canon. Also, check to see if this item is covered by tenant insurance, if you have coverage. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: after power surge, canon I9900 printer will not turn on?

You can try to power up with the printhead out, that sometimes causes it to not power up. Otherwise that machine is fried since you can't get a replacement logic pcb anymore.

SOURCE: I have a canon MX410.

I just found a thread in Apple support forum which has fixed this problem for us - we have been battling with it for months. It is probably to do with it thinking it is a USB print queue, instead of wireless. https://discussions.apple.com/thread/2528609?start=0&tstart=0
Good luck

How to clear the FAX memory in a Canon MX 410

I had the same problem, I own a Pixma MX410, first there is no need to turn off or unplug anything, simply go to your fax button then use the > < arrows to get to advanced fax from the menu button, then go to print reports; then smply print out the reports and then presto all of these reports come printing out and the blue Fax Memory light vanishes. What happened is that at some earlier point someone attempted to fax and it did not go through so it is store in the memory just waiting to be printed out. hope this helps you

MX410 paper jam without paper jam

Either there is a small fragment of paper still hidden in the carriage somewhere, or the sensor is defective. If you can't seem to locate the problem, it would be best to contact Canon directly and ask technical service for assistance.
