Hi, it could be that the door was left open for some time and caused moisture to enter. Try thawing out the freezer first by unplugging it for 10 hours. Best of luck!

SOURCE: Kenmore® (46-26072) Elite® 20.6-Cu. Ft. Frost-Free White Upright Freezer

Check these two things first.  1.  Is there a thick frost buildup on the back panel at the bottom half of the freezer?  2.  Do you hear the fan running inside the freezer?  Let me know what you find.

I am having the same problem. How long did it take?
I bought mine second hand and think it may be broken. I plugged it in 8 hours ago. I can hear it running but it's not cold yet.

My up right freezer in frosing at top inside part of the unit.

Frosting on evaporator coil should be evenly distributed all over the coil. If the frosting only appears up on the top around where the refrigeration line enters then the gas pressure is too low - if you add refrigerant the frosting will move down to cover the bottom coils also.

I have a frigidaire freezer upright model#ffu20f9gw3

Without any additional info, there are a lot of possibilities:
1. Condenser coil (underneath unit) is dirty and clogged.
2. Compressor is failing. (need A/C tech)
3. Metering device is clogged. (need A/C tech)
4. Refrigerant charge is low. (need A/C tech)
5. Door seal is broken (frost will form around door).
6. Defrost heaters are stuck on (replace defrost timer located underneath unit at front).
7. Condenser fan has failed (underneath freezer on back).
8. Evaporator fan (inside fan) has failed (ice will form on cooling coil).

This should get you started...

Frost in frostfree freezer

Make sure your rubber seal around the inside lip of the freezer is clean and sealing properly! this can be the first cause of frost !

Freezer frost

An upright freezer that is not frost free will have the coils in the shelves (shelves are non-removeable) and that is where the frost will buildup.  If your model is like this then it will have to be defrosted periodically.  If your not sure then give me the entire model # from the sticker inside the freezer and I will look it up for you.
