If the disc loads up and you can hear it spin, then you get the error, more than likely the optical lens has been damaged. This will have to be repaired by a local shop if its worth the cost. if the part is available it would probably run anywhere from 130-165 to repair

either the laser is burnt out,or the disc motor is no good.
locate the peice that the cd sits on.spin it.if it reads the disc after,the motor is no good.

The unit failed during self check, probably the power regulation board. A check by a qualified TV/VCR repair person is in order.
