I'm guessing a power surge from the returning power burned something up. You should have all your electronics plugged into surge protectors at a minimum. The best protection is a UPS (uninterruptable power supply).

It is the power supply. Replace the C97, C19, and C16 Capacitors with 2.2 uF ones.

Sounds like the hard drive has had a failure, you need to get a replacement one, and reinstall it, along with the opperating system, and any other programs that were on the old one.

SOURCE: arcam alpha 7 amplifier goes back into standby when volume is turned up

Hi,
Can you, or can someone you know, check for DC voltage on the speaker terminals when the amp is on, but not playing? Ideally, the meter should read 0mV with no signal, and certainly less than +/- 10mV. Anything over +/- 30mV is worth having checked out, especially if it changes as you turn the volume knob with no signal applied.

So you're saying ac doesn't get very far into the unit. THAT should be easy to diagnose with CARE since ac is usually passed unmodified to the fuses and power supplies, maybe through a relay. Get a digital voltmeter and find out where it disappears after getting into the unit.

Sansui RZ 8300 AV Receiver will not turn on flicker on and off. Power turns on but when the standby button pushes in it just flickers on and off.

Hi curtmalm

First, do a rest on the unit by disconnecting from the wall overnight. Then fire it up again to see if it recovers. Let me know here how you go.

regards
Graeme
