Did you save it?
How did you scan it?
If you have a scanner attached, what software did you use to scan?
What folder is the scanning software set to use as the default folder for saving scans?
Is the document saved with an appropriate filename extension (.jpg .png .pdf ) If it doesnt have a correct extension, it may be there but not recognized when you do an Open Image command in some software.

Scan to Email Configuration, Step by Step

Just set up email as normal, scan doc to pc,check docs or scan folder on pc for scanned doc, open new email and click the attach icon, navigate to scanned doc folder, highlight and press ok, then type address and send.

You cannot scan a doc using just the laptop, you will need a single flatbed scanner or an all in one printer scanner which can be purchased very cheaply today and if you mean OCR then it will come with the printer, not the laptop.

I have a lexmark x364dn. It has a line through the copies I make. I can print and scan and it is fine. The line is just on copies

Assuming the COPY uses a automatic document feeder. The doc feeder scans doc by passing doc over a narrow window. If there is a dot or several dots in the narrow window, it / they will show up on copies as a line.
Clean the window (looks like a long glass window about 1 inch wide ) carefully with a SLIGHTLY damp towel. Should get rid of the lines.

Won't scan

Hi. The problem can be caused by a firewall blocking the communication. Try to configure your firewall to allow all lexmark communications to go through. Also, check if scan software FineReader Sprint is still working fine. Otherwise, you have reinstall the software. Hope this helps.

Having a problem with the scan function on my HPC7280

Not too sure on this model, but if there was no options, perhaps the machine has not been set up correctly to scan to a folder or application.
This FAQ/Guide from HP shows you what you need to do to correct set up your printer to make scans.

Word won't come up using OCR from the productivity suite.

Its seems that your filels are saved under different format. In order to find out just give a search for documents created *.* indicating the date and time when you scanned it. It will show you the the file and you can know the extension also. Then you can open it with relevant software. In case you require further assistance just quote back.

My compaq presario m2000 shows "scan disk error"

If you have valuable docs on that drive that you haven't backed up, then the $90 will with 99% certainty get that part of the drive back that is still readable.
