This is not a DIY problem. Sorry. Consider the possible alternative causes: broken reverse assembly, stuck reverse button, dirty dogs (stop laughing), computer board problem. Here are some prior looks at this problem:

Other than cleaning the dogs or tightening a few screws, the other tasks require an expensive service manual from the outset, tools, and possibly parts. Note the complexity of a disassembly process of an earlier model :

The ordinary user manual does not seem to troubleshoot (page 45) the problem: https://www.bernina.com/en-US/SupportData/Out-of-Print/BERNINA_1260_manual

The reverse button is attached to link that moves a lever to make the machine sew in reverse. The lever is spring loaded so it returns to forward sewing when the button is released. Either the spring has come off or there is a bind in the lever(oil it). In order to solve the problem, the covers must be removed.

Be sure you are in the correct stitch pattern...if you are on a buttonhole stitch or a stretch stitch it normal for the machine to sew backwards. Be sure your length is to the right of 0 and not in a strtch stitch model or buttonhole mode.

Your feed dogs sound like they are getting stuck, chec whether they are on the down position, and also make sure that you have cleaned any lint that builds up in the bobbin area, if all fails it will have to go into the technician,

I had a similar problem a couple of years ago. I finally figured out that I had the straight stitch needle plate (the one with the single hole), rather than the zig zag needle plate (the one with the curved hole). When I changed plates, it worked fine.
