Rotacraft RC-18 It has instructions but the instruction don't open the ring so that I can insert the tool. I have now solved it with the help of a friend! I was being too gentle with the unscrewing..

SOURCE: i need a chuck wrench/tool for a duracraft drill press

Are you talking about the chuck key? That's the little wrench with a collar of gear teeth on it.
There are only a few standard sizes plus a couple of odd-balls. Last time I looked, Sears carried a good selection. If you have the old one, take it with you to the store. If you don't have the old one, find a way to measure or approximately measure what you need. Another chuck key that doesn't fit can be a useful reference. If you can find something (maybe a drill bit) that is a close fit into one of the three holes in the chuck, that can be useful too.

SOURCE: how do i remove the chuck from dewalt dc925

The dc925 and the current model dcd950 along with several other models of Dewalt 's line of cordless hammer drills DO NOT have a screw inside removal requires a CHUCK REMOVAL FIXTURE part #
233804-40 also you can't use a generic replacement chuck. As of 2/2/2010 the prices on the Dewaltservicenet web site are $72.74 for
the tool and $69.70 for the chuck, part # 330075-90.

Changing the chuck of a 6408 makita electric drill

Open the chuck and remove the screw inside the chuck (if fitted) the screw is left hand thread, fit the short end of the largest hex key that will fit into the chuck and tighten the chuck, put the drill into low gear and turn the clutch to the drill position, support the drill on a bench and strike the long end of the hex key with a firm blow (right hand thread) it may be neccessary to strike it more than once

What is the size of the replacement chuck key for the Duracraft DP514?

The 1/2 inch is the max size drill that will fit into the chuck. There are only a few different key sizes, and sears sells them in their tool area. Easiest thing to do is find the size of the hole the chuck fits into by using the back end of a drill bit that fits the best. Measure that drill bit or take it with you to the store. You might find two different size keys with that size pilot hole, or maybe only one. Good luck!

Can the chuck be repaired? The very top part (plastic) has fallen out, everything else is intact. Thjis is the ring that you hold while adjusting the chuck. Is it worth getting repaired?

Yes you can get a replacement chuck and install it your self. with the chuck open, ( you can still make it open but its not easy inthe bottom of the hole theres a screw that holds it from turning , most of them ar ebackwards thread, ( turn it ti the right to loosen ) with the screw removed and the drill in low gear ( the slower of the two speeds chuck up the short end of a big allen wrenck ( kex key) The chuck has regular threads and you smack the key with a hammer to unwind it. once turning it'll come right off. If you can't get it off it's not worrth fixing as if you need to pay a shop to put it on by the time parts and labor go by a new one can be bought. You might not be able to get the Ryobi chuck but don't worry all the chucks with the same thread sise will fit and work even ones that use keys. they come with both metric and inch threads though so be sure you take the old parts with you to the stroe to match them up. Msot places that rent out tools have a fix it and parts shop too. Look them up under tool repair and tool rental.

I have a McCraw Edison 1/2 drill model 3241T2and need a new chuck where can I find one.

Hello,

If your chuck is a stanard type, fully open the jaws of the chuck and look inside the chuck to see if there is a retaining screw.
If there is one remove it (more than likely it will have a reverse thread).
Using the chuck key in the chuck, knock it with an hammer to loosen it.
You should be able to get any chuck from a local tool shop to fit your drill.

Can't open the chuck in my milwaukee power drill

hi,

it might be possible that the chuck is dry due to heat build up while being in use. if it has set up for a while it is also possible the chuck has rust in it. i would use some penetrating fluid in it and let it set a day or two then retry opening it. if it doesn't solve the problem then i would take off the chuck and soak it in diesel fuel or kerosene over night. if it was working good before this will most likely fix you problem. if it does then be sure to apply alittle bearing grease to the inside chuck keys. this will keep it moving freely. good luck!
