Car sound system. only sub is giving off sound. other 4 speakers dont work at all

Hi. please help me if you can. ive been asking everyone i know for help and nobody seems to know, even mechanics!

the problem is in my jeep wrangler only my 10" sub is giving off sound and its all bass so you cant hear any high sounds that the regular speakers usually give off. I installed the system myself. I have a kenwood stereo, dub 550w mosfet amp, 4 sony tweeters and 1 10" mtx sub. They all worked at one time but the past few days either they worked or didnt and now they dont work at all, just the sub. The sound is very bad as its only a deep bass sound. I tried playing around with the settings on the amp but nothing works.. the crossover settings dont work, the frequency range doesnt work... or should i say doesnt make the tweeters work. I can rule out that it is not the amp that is the problem because I went and bought a new amp and hooked it up today and that didnt work, it was the same as before so that is not the problem. Please help!!!

Could be bad outputs from the back of your head unit or also could be bad rca cables. Make sure the amp is on and powered.

Check setting on the head unit if you have SUB settings. Make sure amp is bridged running 1 channel combined not 2 seperate, Make sure RCA leads are plugs in correctly and not backwards, turn do the power on your amp, turn SUB volume down on your amp.

I just needed some help with wiring my p8002 rockford amp to 2 fosgate 10 inch subs i just bought. there 4 ohms a piece and dual voice coil. i dont know much about car stereos but people keep telling me...

Well i tried looking up that amp, but Fosgate sight is down. So assuming that the best power out of your amp is 2ohms off the bridged hookup, and the subs are 4 ohms per coil, the best way is to only use one side of each speaker and hook it straight the the bridge. Only using one hook up wont hurt anything, its just for giving you wiring options. And when adding up ohms of speakers, it goes like this. If you had two 4 ohm subs, that'll give you a 2 ohm load. If you hooked up all your hookups, it would be like having four 4 ohm subs, and would give you a 1 ohm load.

I recently purchased a new Denon AVR-391 receiver and am having a problem hooking up my subwoofer. It seems that the Denon has a pre-out RCA looking output and my subwoofer uses conventional speaker wire. ...

Hi,
Your sub-woofer apparently does not have an amplifier built into it. This type requires you to use your front left and front right speaker output to got through it to your regular speakers. It is called a passive sub-woofer for that reason.
To set it up, Connect your front speakers to the "output" of the sub. It should say "to speakers" on it.
Then connect the Speaker Outputs for the left front and right front on your Denon AVR-391 directly to the Sub. It should say on the back of the Sub "to amplifier".
Here is some theory you should know, if you don't already know it, that will help you get a satisfactory result in setting up this system.
There is a condition on setting up all speakers and subs that not everyone know. It's call "phase alignment". Phase alignment (A Good Thing) refers to all of the speakers in a system moving in the same direction (in and out) at the same instant in time. This gives you much clearer sound and better response from your sub-woofer.
Phase Cancellation (a bad thing) is when some of the speakers are moving out and other moving in during the very same instant in time. It causes problems in sound.
IN A SUB-WOOFER, IT CAN CANCEL OUT THE LOW NOTES.
Here is how to handle it:
On the back of the receiver the speaker terminal outputs are colored Red and Black. Black is considered negative and Red is considered positive. On the back of the Sub woofer and on the speakers the same colors apply. MAKE SURE THAT ALL OF THE CONNECTIONS GO BLACK TO BLACK AND RED TO RED WHEN CONNECTING UP THE SPEAKER WIRES.
The system will work either way. But you will have severe bass loss if the woofer wiring is out of phase because of phase cancellation.
Hope this helps,
Best Regards,
Mark

Hi ive just bought a 2nd hand sub n amp, wired them up and i can only get the amp 2 work,my other subs work plugged into the same amp just to check but the xplod wont,im not getting anything wot so ever,i...

Hello empsglen,

If the sub voice coil is open, you will get exactly no sound. No crackling, nothing.

Use a multimeter to check the sub voice coil. If the meter reads infinity, the coil is open and to the amp, it's as if there's no sub connected, and you will need to replace it.

Hope this helps.

Because of Gigaware headphones, my speakers dont work

it sounds like the headphones shorted out the usb on your system, you might try some speakers that are not usb and see what you come up with,,,also check and make sur your sound isnt muted on the master control for the volume

SWR-1242D wired at 4ohms

Hi!

Having to much power for a subwoofer is a veeeery good thing, it will provide a lot of control and quality sound to your sub.

But this sub is a dual voice coil at 2 x 4ohm so if you want to hook it up at 4 ohm u need a 2 channel amplifier running mono mode.

i dont recomend that you hook up in 4 ohm, its better to take some time adjusting the levels on the amp and the headunit.

This system has the potential to create a realy good bass sound if u tune it the right way.

No sounds through sub and rear speakers

Your radio probably has a sub on and off function on it that was reset when it lost power. Go into your setup menu to turn it on.
