SOURCE: how to connect 6.1 speakers to 7.1 receiver

Using the Onkyo display setup, you can turn off one surround speaker, and your receiver should realize it's using the 6.1 channels instead of the 7.1

If you don't want to go that route, use the mic setup that came in the box and your Onkyo will determine by itself the 6.1 channel layout.

It should work fine.

SOURCE: KLH SUBWOOFER - RECEIVER-SURROUND SOUND -5 SPEAKER HOOK UP INSTRUCTIONS

Had the same problem with KLH E-10D Preamped Subwoofer. Afte brief research, I found the problem was with my Pioneer VSX-D509S reciever settings, not the subwoofer. If you have the same reciever, you can go to the pioneer website to download specific model owner's manuals.

http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PUSA/Support/HomeEntertainment/ch.AV-Receivers.Archived?vgnextfmt=Archived

Select your Pioneer reciever model and it will give you an option to download the pdf manual. Hope this helps.

The impedence of all speakers are [3.5 Ohms]. May connected upto [6Ohms] instead, provided the output will be a little less. Bass module cannot be connected with other sources. How do I connect my 901 equalizer /speakers to the yamaha rx-v633 receiver?

Sorry, it doesnt look like you can hook up an external EQ while still using the amplifier section of the yamaha. Instead, You would have to use the preamp out to go to 901 EQ, out of the EQ into another stereo amplifier, then to the 901 speakers. Personally, to power the 901's properly, I'd use another external amplifier. You will barley get 75watts per channel out of the receiver to power the 901's

I have a Yamaha Rx -V465 AV receiver When turn the system on it will not stay on. I switch outlets it would do the same.

First disconnect all speaker cables and all input cables (optical, HDMI, everything expect power). If receiver powers off itself immediately even without anything connected, it is faulty and you need to send it for repair.

If it works without cables, then you probably have bad cables and/or short-circuit in the speaker connection and receiver is turning off to prevent damage. Double-check your connection and that no speaker "+" cable has a contact with any "-" cable or connector. Even one little strand of cable touching the opposite polarity connecter is enough to cause a short-circuit.

Why yamaha rx-v 575 does not turn on?

You have a short in your speaker cables (not connected to speakers or small fiber of wire connecting across the speaker terminals)
-or-
your output transistors have gone bad and need to be replaced. This usually costs the same as a new receiver.

I have just brought a rx-v367 av reciever and have connected it to my tv/ speakers. speakers work fine when testing set up. however there is no sound coming out when connected to tv. also it keeps coming...

Hi, Yamaha audio-video receivers are equipped with a variety of connecting jacks for hooking up different types of electronic equipment. Component AV cables are typically used for hooking up the receiver to a cable TV box. Component cables can also be used to connect the Yamaha receiver to an HDTV, although a High Definition Media Interface (HDMI) cable offers a simpler connection if the receiver is equipped with HDMI (all HDTV sets are equipped with the distinctive, six-sided HDMI jack). The connections should take less than five minutes.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

* 2 sets component AV cables
* HDMI cable

Check the back of the Yamaha receiver to determine if HDMI is available. The six-sided jack contains 19 holes set in three rows. If the receiver is equipped with an HDMI Out port, use an HDMI cable to connect to the TV by inserting the plug straight into the jack with the wider end turned upward.

Insert the red, green and blue plugs on a set of component AV cables into the Video Out jacks on the cable TV box, matching the plug colors to the jacks.

Connect the plugs on the other end to a set of Video In jacks on the back of the Yamaha receiver. Make a note of which jacks are used for the connection. Each set of jacks is labeled on the receiver.

Insert the audio plugs on the component cables into the Audio Out jacks on the cable box, using the white plug for the left channel and the red plug for the right.

Attach the plugs on the other end to the Audio In jacks on the Yamaha receiver.

Use a second set of component AV cables to connect from the AV Out jacks on the Yamaha to the AV In jacks on the HDTV only if an HDMI cable was not used.

I have a yamaha, natural Sound Av receiver RX-V483, every time that i start the unit it will shut down after 5 seconds. thank you very much

It indicates an output load problem, dis-connect the speaker wires from the back of receiver. Next power on and turn the volume right down, if the unit runs, check for shorts in the speaker wires and speakers. But if it still shuts down "with speakers and wires dis-connected" one or more of the audio output ic's is shorted and will need a professional to assess the item.

Yamaha rx-v456 av receiver, shut down with optica cable

Does it work without PS3 attached?
When receiver turns off, it is usually due to badly connected/configured speakers. Try powering on the receiver without speakers.

Speakers connection

There shouldnt be a problem with that at all. The subwoofer needs to be self powered. The Yamaha has a "Subwoofer Output" on the back. Just connect it there.
