SOURCE: Dyson DC07 motor overheats
the motor brushes are worn down and can be expensive to get someone to fit them for you so i think its time for a new cleaner
Testimonial: "Thanks for your advice, I think I'll go for a new one then as it will come with a 5 year warranty."
SOURCE: Not holding charge
Ok, folks.. I just posted my own problem with the battery not holding it's charge..but, we fixed it ourselves.. take the motor loose from the canister , remove the filter and in the back are two contacts.they are two screws at the bottom one on each side... get out your pencil with a GOOD eraser and clean those contacts!..clean around them both and the contact (silver spot at the bottom) and you're good to go!!

Have you checked your permanent filter? Have you checked the hoses for clogs. As a last resort you can disassemble the cyclone and clean it. If the vac is less than 5 years old, Dyson will probably send you a new Cyclone to replace yours.
Also check that you have the gasket inside the center of the bottom of the clear canister on the right way. If it is backwards your suction will be much less
SOURCE: Our upright Dyson has just stopped working. No
There are four possibilities:
1) If in a country that has a fused plug, the fuse in the plug (unlikely).
2) The switch (unlikely).
3) A break inside the cable that you cannot see (quite likely).
3) The motor is shot and needs replacing (very likely).
