SOURCE: Ink keeps leaking from the printer!

The problems you are experiencing are due to ink buildup in the ink absorbers that reside in the base of the printer. I'm surprised that you did not get a "ink absorber almost full" message. Unfortunately this occurs when more ink (heavy printing) goes in to this area than the ink absorbers can absorb and the ink starts to build up. An ink waste tube feeds in to the absorbers right in the front middle of the printer. When the ink begins to build up, it comes up through the paper platen there in the front causing the ink problems on the back of your paper.

The machine will need to be serviced. Canon suggest replacing all of the ink absorbers which is the easiest thing to do from a Tech perspective. The last machine I had in with this problem, I tore down machine and just rinsed all of the absorbers. You also have to rinse the underside of the paper platen.

SOURCE: hP officejet wireless 6500 printer won't print

Yes I will tell you why Kodak photo paper is a little thicker in size and you should not get this same error message if you use hp photo paper or regular photo paper.See of this helps.....

Issue The Out of Paper message appears on the computer and the product stops picking up or feeding paper. Solution Step one: Reset the product

  1. Without turning the product off, remove the power cord from the back of the product.
  2. Wait 30 seconds and then plug the power cord into the back of the product.
  3. If the product is not already on, use the On button to turn it on.
Step two: Check the condition of the paper and reload it
  1. Replace any paper that is ripped, dusty, curled, wrinkled, or bent.
  2. Make sure that all the paper is the same size and type. Because only one type of paper can be used in the product at a time, paper types should never be mixed.
  3. Tap the stack of paper on a flat surface to align the edges.
  4. Make sure that the stack of paper to be loaded in the product contains no fewer than 10 and no more than 25 sheets of paper.
NOTE: Do not load too much paper in the product.
  5. Insert the stack of paper into the product and gently push the paper guides snugly against the paper. Make sure that the paper is completely inserted into the product and can be picked up by the paper rollers.
  6. Try printing again. If the issue is not resolved, try loading different brands of paper and different types of paper, one type at a time, into the product and then try printing again. If the issue persists, continue with the next step.
Step three: Adjust the paper settings in the print driver The paper settings in the print driver must match the paper settings for at least one of the installed paper trays.
  1. Open a document in the program being used to print.
  2. Click File , click Print , and then click Properties . The product Properties dialog box appears.
  3. Click the Paper/Quality tab.
  4. Choose the appropriate paper size from the Size is drop-down menu.
  5. Choose the appropriate paper type from the Type is drop-down menu.
  6. Click OK and then click OK again to print the document..
  7. If the issue is not resolved, continue with the next step.
Step four: Clean the rollers
  1. Turn off the product and unplug the power cord.
  2. Open the access door to gain access to the rollers. Depending on the model, this is usually the rear access door. See the product user guide for information about locating the rollers.
  3. Clean the rubber rollers with a lint-free cloth, lightly moistened with water.
  4. Make sure that any paper rollers that rest on the input tray, which are located behind the back rollers, are cleaned. A clean cotton swab, lightly moistened with water, might be necessary to reach these rollers.
  5. Close the access door and plug in the power cord.
  6. Try printing again. If the issue is not resolved, continue to the next step.
Step five: Service the product If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product. CauseAny of the following issues can cause the error message to appear:
  • The paper trays are empty or overloaded.
  • The paper is curled.
  • The print side, or shiny side, of the paper is not loaded in the input tray face down.
  • The paper might not be engaged with the feed rollers.
  • The paper-width guide is pressed against the paper stack too tightly.
  • The paper tray is not completely inserted into the product.
  • The paper settings in the print driver do not match the paper loaded in the paper tray.
  • The rubber paper-feed rollers are coated with dust.

SOURCE: The ip4500 will not print - says the paper output tray is open!

Just fixed this problem on mine. Need to remove the covers, watch these 2 vids to see how..
http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=martop49#p/u/1/iQdHDR6po80

Then on the right side where the on switch is, near the hinge is a little switch with 2 yellow wires, it's probably broke. Pull the 2 wires out and solder or twist them together, then put everything back together. It will now assume the door is always open. Jobs a good'n :)

My kodak verite 55 printer says it is out of paper, but it is not. It also says the printer is not recognized. Any ideas?

  1. Check to make sure that the paper tray is loaded correctly and that the paper is not jammed in the printer.
  2. Make sure that the paper guides in the tray are adjusted correctly for the size of paper you are using.
  3. Check to see if the printer driver is up to date. Outdated printer drivers may cause the printer to not be recognized by the computer. You can download the latest driver from the Kodak website.
  4. Check the USB cable that connects the printer to the computer to ensure that it is properly connected and that there is no damage to the cable.
  5. Restart the printer and the computer and try to print again.
  6. If the issue persist, run the printer troubleshooter, it might help you to identify and fix the problem.
  7. If none of the above solutions work, it is possible that the printer's paper sensor is malfunctioning. In this case, contact Kodak customer service for further assistance.
It's important to follow the instructions carefully and if you have any doubts or difficulties, consult the printer's user manual or contact the manufacturer for assistance.

    • power cord
    • USB cable (if used)
  3. Turn the printer on its left side.
  4. Open the paper tray.
  5. From the bottom of the printer, do the following depending on your printer model:
  6. joed911_7.jpg

Printer not printing black ink.. beware the clowns below with spam phone numbers

The problem you are all having is with the print head (The black tray that your ink cartridges sit in).

Most of the time a simple cleaning of this will correct the problem, if it does not then you will have to call Kodak support and they will send you out another print head.

But lets try and see if we can get your troubled one to work again by following these steps...

1 - turn printer on and open the lid as if you were going to change the printer ink cartridges.

2- when the ink tray moves into the center and stops, remove both the black and color cartrdiges from the print head.

3- To remove the print head simply place your left thumb inside the head all the way to the left facing up and pinch the upper left lip of the print head to release it, then pull the entire tray out with your other hand ( there is a release inside the tray above the sticker of a finger and bullseye to the far left in the upper left corner inside the tray)

4- With the tray now removed be sure to look at the bottom and you most likely will find a build-up of black ink... clean this off using DRY paper towel as much as you can.
I used rubbing alcohol but if you do this make SURE it is completely dry before reinstalling.

5- Once you have cleaned the print head reinstall it in reverse fashion than you removed it, if you installed it right you will hear a solid CLICK noise.

6- replace the ink cartridges you removed if they still have ink in them and then close the printer lid.

7- You may get a notice that there is a new printer head and or cartridges and it will want to align and or calibrate the printer...be sure to do this!

8- Once the printer is recalibrated hit the menu tab on the printer and choose " clean ink head"... Do a deep cleaning 2 times!

9- Now try to print something that contains something black like a text document. If it works you are all set, if it did not then you will need a new print head from kodak. simply explain that you did the above steps and it did not work so that you can avoid support trying to run you through all this. They will send you a new one in 2 days.

Hope this helps and good luck!
