OK, I deleted everything that I wrote, I went to the HP website and there could be a lot of things for this issue. But it does let you know how to troubleshoot it. Click on the link to head over to the HP support website and in the drop down choose copy. It will show you the problem and how to fix it. When you say feeder tray, are you speaking of the document feeder tray, or the paper input tray? The document feeder tray is not customer replaceable so it will not be removable. I presume you are referring to the fax function. Make sure the telephone cable from your OfficeJet is plugged into an analog phone line (rather than a digital phone line you might have as part of an office PBX phone system) or connect the printer to the port that is designated for fax and analog phone use. There shouldn't be any settings to change as this device only has analog fax.
The printer is checking for a valid printer cartridge and apparently can't communicate with the LD products cartridges. I wouldn't recommend buying 3rd party ink at all actually, most just shortens the life of your printer and clogs things up. You should try eBay and find some HP cartridges for less in my opinion.
