I need help with my Nintendo Wii. It's been getting extremely warm when I put a disk in and it doesn't read it. I've tried air where the disk goes, and tried cleaning the disk as well.

SOURCE: installed a new laser for the nintendo wii and

Hi there

From what you have said it sounds like you have the DISK DRIVE READ ERROR

The main cause is Hardware failure due to overheating or just simple wear & tear.

You will need to perform simple maintenance to your console

You can send your Wii to Nintendo to fix this. If your in warranty its free. If not the repair cost would be $150 and a wait time of 4-6 weeks

The other solution is what I did and the way more and more gamers are turning nowadays is a Good Wii Repair Guide that shows you how to fix the problem yourself. I have never had a problem with this one so far for over a year, well worth it. Its my most recommended guide online.

Well this is all the help and advice I have on this so good luck.

You can get back to gaming

Please come back and rate my post if you find it useful

Many thanks

Chris Foley

We have just bought a wii game thru amazon.com and my son has put it in the wii console and it comes up with an error message saying it cannot read disk, have you any ideas what may be wrong?

try another game disk, if you get the same result, the laser inside may have burned out, if not, you should get a can of air duster and spray inside the disk slot, otherwise the game may be too scratched(if bought used) or unable to play with the firmware you are using

I stay in India and bought a wii console from Singapore . Recently bought Mariokart game ( with Wheel ) from Dubai duty free . The wii console cannot read the disc - what can i do to make it work ?

If the disk is dirty, you may try to clean it. Rub a small amount of toothpaste gel onto the disk with your fingers, rinse with luke warm water, and dry thoroughly before putting back into your Wii.
Verify the problem isn't with the Wii itself. Make sure that the Wii you purchased will play a different game. (Wii Sports would work fine.)
If the game disk is a pirated or burned copy your Wii has to be modified to read those disks.

Disk won't work

Did you put it in correctly? If the Wii is facing vertically, the side with print on it goes AWAY from the buttons. Anytime you put in a Wii disk in, the print side must go away from the buttons. Hope this helps :)

When I put a disc in my wii, it says cannot read disc see operations manual

Firstly, check wether all the disks are originals, not (illegal) copies. The Wii is protected and returns that error when a user tries to run a copied disk.
Secondly, try cleaning the disk and the tray it needs to go in.
If that doesn't help either, I think it's broken and you should get a new one. (Is your guarantee still active?)

My Wii is no longer reading a disk. I put it in and I get a grinding sound soon after it goes to a black screen that says "an error has occurred. press the eject button and remove the disk and turn the Wii...

I would definatly contact Nintendo customer support. It sounds like your Disc drive on the Wii is going bad. They will either fix or replace your wii, if it is still under warranty then they will do so at no cost to you.

Wii will not read any disks

Nintendo has a great customer service. Just call, and if it is something they can help you fix over the phone, they will. Otherwise you might have to send it in and they will replace the disk drive and it should work after that.
