My screen just went blank what could be the problem earlier it was failing to install operating system now the screen is blank

Hi there.
Try booting into safe mode, this is F2 on start up, let all the drivers load up and see if it lets you in, if it does you can perform a system restore (a window may pop up giving you this option if its XP), restore the computer back a couple of days before the battery failed.

Hi ,
Lets start buy starting in safe mode , so press esc, f10 or f12what ever you see at boot up , go to the start button and click on it to open the control panel on the right , click on the control panel to find device manager , open the device manager and find the disk drive;s , left click on on hard drives and find your hard drive , right ckick on your drive and scroll to scan for hardware changes ,, after that right ckick again and go to prop . and see what the error code is and let me know ...now if your unable to start in safe mode , boot off the start up disk , and try to get in safe mode from there ....
