Low signal

The battery may be getting weak. Also, this is a low impedance microphone. If you have it plugged into a high impedance device the signal will appear weak. If this is the case you might try getting a matching transformer. They are usually available from any decent musical instrument store or electronic supply.

Sony ecm 719 doesn't aseem to be working properly

Hi kollydogg

The mic you purchased is a condenser type that requires either a battery(you now have), or a sony power supply. Without it, I would expect it to not do much at all. The specs look ok on it. Good for bootlegging concerts :)

Battery change

The battery is housed in the xlr adaptor DC-78. You may need to unscrew the barrell about the outside of it to replace the batt.

Or alternatively use phantom power to run up the mic(this is easiest

. Be sure to connect it to a channel that is phantom power optioned

Here is the spec sheets for it with details of the adaptor you need and battery type required.

Battery corroded inside microphone

My experience with repairing Sony microphones for a television station is that once the battery corrosion eats the copper anywhere within the mic, the circuit (not the mic) is toast. I would send it in to Sony direct as they will have the parts and expertise to turn this around quickly for you.
