I have a Samsung Television (Model No.: un40eh5000fxzc) that recently kicked the proverbial bucket.
The LED on the front of the set blinks red and in rhythm (not an error code like some Samsung TVs do) along with the backlight. Initially, I thought it was the power supply, however, all of the board voltages are within spec but only if I unplug the edge connector which provides the current to drive the backlight.
Leaning on the side of caution, I replaced the P/S unit anyway thinking the primary drive circuit or the secondary tap for the LED array may have been weak under load. Unfortunately, the same issue persisted with the new board.
So my questions are; has anyone run across this issue before and if so, what was the resolution? Secondly, has anyone actually found that the LED array was defective and required replacing? I should mention, that when the backlight flashes, it appears of the the LED elements light up, albeit briefly.
Thanks to anyone that considers my quandary!

Faults & possible causes to LCD screen are given with illustrations. You can get an idea about the fault to an extent.
hi there, Flashing light red means a shorted electronic component is need to be replaced. do some test at video section, most of it are diode, transistors, transformers. ty
I think its something on the picture frame board or on the line output board. I would sway to the line output simply because I think but not sure that error code is linked to the line output stage plus when you unplugged the cable the voltage seems within parameters. Good luck.
Most likely the YSCAN UPPER board and/or YSCAN LOWER Board also gone. Your new YSUS board may damage again if you don't replace the bad YSCAN boards. Try to replace the three boards together and then to verify which boards are bad one by one. Good luck.
On the power supply board I replaced CAP C226 as per another poster and the problem is solved. It is a 470 uF, 35 VDC capacitor. Bought one at Radio Shack for <$1.50 USD. Radio Shack part number is: 272.1030.

The red light flashing is indicating the error.
depending on the make and model of the TV, the duration of the flash and number of flashes determines the error code.
actually, unless the control board is identical(which it isn't) that would be a bit of a stretch.. Let's see..can you let me know what is the model number of your set?
Sony has provided a "self-diagnosis function"
with your TV, that in the case of abnormalities or problems the LED or
red blinking light on the Timer/Standby indicator flashes a number of
times to indicate the issue. when there is trouble with your
Sony Television set -- it indicates the issue in either the diagnostic
mode, or even more commonly by flashing a series of LED blinks or
flashes on the front of your television. Each set or frequency of the
blinks indicates a very specific problem with the television itself. Sorry but unless you may be able to repair the television set yourself , please call a local repair shop
to the have a repairman sent out,, Take care and please Remember to rate/vote for us to continue for Helping out the Community :)

The blinking red light at the the front of the television is the "Diagnostic STANDBY/TIMER LED".
This little red light will blink 2, 4, or 5 times and then stay off for three-seconds. And blink again for 2, 4, or 5 times. This cycle repeats. The most common diagnostic code is the 4-blink code.
When the red LED blinks 4-times, it means one of two possible causes:
1) +13V is not supplied on the A-board. Or, 2) IC502 is faulty.
It is best to take this television set to a repair facility and ask that the +13V power supply be repaired.
The copper tracks and integrated circuit pads are very thin and delicate on the KV-24FV12 circuit board, and will easily lift off of the circuit board, if the incorrect desoldering tool is used. Unless one has a good quality PACE vacuum desoldering unit, one should not attempt to repair the television.
I just recently had the same problem and finally my set would no longer turn on. I replaced the projector lamp and now my set works. However, when it first comes on, it only stays on for about 2 minutes and then goes off. After another minute, it comes back on and works fine from then on. I don't believe this double power up can be any good for the lamp, but I don't know if the problem is the lamp or the set. These lamps run on about 65 volts, but require a short blast from 5000 volt source to fire up. At $200.00 a lamp, I don't want to go buy another!
