First change the referesh rate for your monitor. If that works, then you dont have to change the resolution. If that does not work, try increasing the rate again. Once you can get the game, then try to change the resolution from within the game options, if necessary..

You need to lower your PS3 video resolution to the TV native resolution. Try at lower resolution first and go up from there. Right now it is too high for the TV.

SOURCE: When I hook my ps3

Hello,

Turn the system off, then push the power button for 5-10 seconds. That resets the video to the minimum setting.

Or

*WITH NO DISC INSERTED* If there is one, eject it and turn the system off so I can show you from a system start with no disc. This IS using a HDMI cable as well

1)Power on system; do NOT push any buttons on the controller!

2) Over 4 to the left

3)9 down

4) Click 'X' once

5)Click 'X' again

6)Click 'X' again

7)Click 'X' again

That should bring you to some settings list that makes sure that the settings you clicked were what you want.

Good luck.

How to change the resolution on a Emerson tv?

What is your video source? I have only seen this message on TVs when a connected set top box was set to an unusable resolution. (For example, a set top box set to progressive scan when the TV can only handle interlaced scan. For a full HD video source these would be labeled 1080i or 1080p. There might be other characters in the settings menu list, depending on the source.)

When my cable box did this when using an HDMI cable, the simplest solution for me was to connect the cable box to the TV using a RF cable. Both the set top box and the TV had RF connections. My TV has both a menu button and a source button on the front panel. I set the source to TV. Then I was able to tune to channel 3; channel 4 can work. (Scanning for channels from the on-screen menu was available without a remote.) Then I used the set top box's remote to access that menu. Then I got to Settings > Hardware Settings > Video. Then I could change the output video resolution for HDMI back to 1080i.

This is harder with some of the streaming devices with only an HDMI connection. I hope this helps. Please add a comment to let me know which model TV and device have the resolution mismatch for additional steps to resolve the problem.

Question edited for spelling and typos

Simply the television doesn't support the format of the PS4. Sylvania are not a good television, and it is likely to be older.

Out of Range problem with LED 19 inch viewsonic monitor

What is the source for the signal to the monitor? First, if the source is a computer, was the computer previously connected to a CRT monitor? If this was the case, you may have the wrong refresh rate as well as the wrong resolution being sent to the video port. Reconnect the computer to the old monitor (if possible) and reset the refresh rate to 60 Hz.

Next connect the monitor to the computer with both devices off. Then turn on the monitor and set it to the correct input (if needed). Then turn on the computer. Most versions of Windows should determine the best resolution for the monitor. (Some Unix versions and recent versions of the Mac OS will also automatically find the correct resolution.) If you are still getting the out of range message, you need to change the video resolution with a different monitor connected and then retry. Always turn on the monitor first.

For additional support, please add a comment with the specific monitor and source that you have. In a few cases, the video card/on-board video may not be able to output the correct resolution or lose the correct setting when the monitor or computer "sleep".

I hope this helps.

We have a bang and olufsen beovision 7 40 inch tv. when we try to connect our laptop through vga port the tv appears blank without any display, tried connecting the laptop through dvi port also. The...

First, try setting your monitor refresh rate at 60Hz using a known-working monitor. (The VGA input of the Beovision 7 is recommended for 60Hz refresh rate). If this fails to produce output from the Beovision 7, it is very likely, your video driver's resolution is set too high for the Beovision 7 to display signal. If you are using the Beovision 7 as your primary monitor, first connect a known-working monitor to the computer and reduce the resolution to 1024x768. Once you have changed the resolution, try connecting the Beovision 7. If you get video signal, increase the resolution incrementally until you find the maximum resolution the Beovision 7 will handle.

IF YOU ARE USING THE BEOVISION 7 AS A SECONDARY MONITOR USING EXTENDED DESKTOP, reduce the resolution on Monitor 2 output to 1024x768. If video appears on the Beovision 7 at that resolution, incrementally increase the Monitor 2 resolution until you find the maximum resolution the Beovision 7 will accept as a secondary monitor.

When i try to connect my laptop to my rca l40fhd41, it will show for a few seconds then a message comes up on the tv "unsupported" and it wont work as a monitor.

You need to reset the laptop video screen output resolution and refresh rate to something compatible with the HDTVs acceptable parameters. Consult the TVs owner's manual for a chart showing the acceptable screen resolutions and refresh rates. You are looking for numbers like 1024 X 768 or 600 X 800 for screen resolution. Your laptop will allow you to setup different screen resolutions for output. You just have to find one the TV likes.

I've got a dell computer and i'm trying to swap the crt screen to a packard bell lcd screen and it wont display is there a driver i have to get or are they just not compatable

It probably a mismatch between resolution, colour depth and refresh rates. Before you disconnect the CRT change the resolution to 640x480 and 16 colours with a 60Hz refresh. Then connect the LCD and adjust the settings

Adjust the system's video output settings. Select the best output settings for the TV in use.

1. Check the resolution supported by your TV.
Resolution (video mode) varies depending on the TV type. For details, refer to the instructions supplied with the TV.

2. Select (Display Settings) under (Settings) in the home menu.

3. Select [Video Output Settings].

4. Select the connector type on your TV.
Resolution (video mode) varies depending on the type of connector used.

Input connector on the TV Supported video modes (NTSC region) *1 Supported video modes (PAL region) *1
HDMI 1080p / 1080i / 720p / 480p 1080p / 1080i / 720p / 576p
Component / D-Terminal *2 1080p / 1080i / 720p / 480p / 480i 1080p / 1080i / 720p / 576p / 576i
Composite / S Video *3 480i 576i
AV MULTI / SCART *4 480p / 480i 576p / 576i
*1 The video mode options vary depending on the region where the PS3™ system was purchased. In North America, Asia and other NTSC regions, 480i video mode is displayed as [Standard (NTSC)]. In Europe and other PAL regions, 576i video mode is displayed as [Standard (PAL)]. For details, refer to the instructions supplied with the product.

*2 D-terminal is a connector type used mainly in Japan. The resolutions supported by D1-D5 are as follows:
D5: 1080p / 720p / 1080i / 480p / 480i
D4: 1080i / 720p / 480p / 480i

*4 AV MULTI is a format mainly used in Japan. SCART is a format mainly used in Europe. If [AV MULTI / SCART] is selected, the screen allowing you to select the type of output signal will be displayed.

5. Change video output settings.
Change the resolution for the video output. Depending on the connector type selected in step 4, this screen may not be displayed.

6. Set the resolution.
Select all resolutions supported by the TV in use. Video will automatically be output at the highest resolution possible for the content you are playing from among the selected resolutions.*
* The video resolution is selected in order of priority as follows: 1080p > 1080i > 720p > 480p/576p > Standard (NTSC:480i/PAL:576i).
If [Composite / S Video] is selected in step 4, the screen for selecting resolutions will not be displayed.
If [HDMI] is selected, you can also select to automatically adjust the resolution (the HDMI device must be turned on). In this case, the screen for selecting resolutions will not be displayed.

7. Set the TV type.
Select the type of TV in use. Set when only SD resolution (NTSC:480p / 480i, PAL: 576p / 576i) is to be output such as when [Composite / S Video] or [AV MULTI / SCART] is selected in step 4.

8. Check your settings.
Confirm that the image displayed is at the correct resolution for the TV. You can go back to a previous screen and revise the settings by pressing the button.

9. Save your settings.
The video output settings are saved on the PS3™ system. You can continue on to set audio output settings. For details on audio output, see (Settings) > (Sound Settings) > [Audio Output Settings] in this guide.

LCD TV and VGA output

The resolution and refresh rates have to match exactly to the TV for it to work correctly with the computer.

The newer computers are using much faster refresh rates by default. Their default resolution is also different.

Consult the manual for the TV and see if the computer's external monitor output can be set to match to what the TV exactly requires. Both the refresh rate and resolution are critical.
