When your thermostat was installed, a small sensor with transmitter was placed somewhere outside of your house, (Mine was placed under the house, zip tied to a floor joist). You need to find the sensor (about the size of a zippo lighter), open it, and replace the battery and put it back where it was.

SOURCE: Goodman Furnace/AC unit not working

3 amp is standard.the fuse is blowing to protect the transformer. It is telling you that there is a short in the low voltage wiring.Goodman also had an issue with the coil shorting on the contactor. To prevent damage.....i'd call a pro.It should be a fairly simple repair.

SOURCE: ATWOOD MOBILE FURNACE RUNS WHEN IT WANTS/

Check your furnace for power. will be 4 wires. power ground and 2 thermostat wires. Check for power at the time delay relay, if you have power there check for power going in the fan motor, if power in motor wire, motor is bad. If no power in motor wire and power going to circuit board take the 2 thermostat wire apart and wrap the 2 together comimg from the thermostat. Fan will stat in about 30 seconds. If it does you need a control kit in the ac. But sounds to me like you have a furnace problem.

SOURCE: Thermostat not turning on furnace.

Hi, You need to go to the furnace to see if you have lost the 24 volt supply, the transformer. If you have a circuit board, see if it has a 3 to 5 amp fuse plugged into it that is blown. This will kill power to stat causing nothing to work. Let me no what you find and we can go from there.

SOURCE: Furnace does not turn on normally

Having to reset it tells me that there is probably an error code blinking on the control board. Look for a small viewing port that looks into the cabinet. Count the number of blinks then remove the panels to find the wiring diagram pasted on one of them. On the diagram you will find a diagnostic code to help you narrow down the problem. It could be as simple as a plugged air filter.

On a call for heat, the 24 volt thermostat sends a signal to the control module. The control module will indicate a call for heat with a light on the control either blinking or remain solid depending upon model. The inducer (exhaust) blower will purge all gasses from the furnace and pressurize a pressure switch. Once the pressure switch tells the module to continue, the electronic ignition will energize and send 120 volts to the igniter. The igniter will glow and you will be able to see it if viewed thru the small inspection port. Once the igniter gets hot enough, it sends a signal to the module opening up the gas valve (24 volts). Either a pilot will come on or the burner tube will ignite then spread the flame to all burners. Lastly a safety sensor will be looking for a certain temperature within a few seconds and the furnace will continue to operate and the room air blower will turn on in a minute or two.

What could go wrong? The unit will not run if there is no signal from the thermostat (bad thermostat or broken wire), the control module does not sense a signal from the thermostat (bad control), the inducer does not energize (bad motor), the pressure switch does not close (blocked vent piping, bad switch, plugged condensate hose), the igniter does not energize (bad control, bad igniter), the gas valve does not open or there is no gas (bad gas valve, broken wire, no gas), the pilot does not light (dirty pilot), the burner does not light (bad burner, plugged orifice, not enough combustion air), the flame does not spread to each burner (bad flame spreader, dirty flame spreader, more bad burners), the flame safety sensor does not detect flame (dirty or bad flame spreader, bad flame sensor, broken wire, bad control), or the room air blower does not energize (bad fan motor, bad control).

1 posible cause.the thermostat supplies 24 volts to the outside unit to control the contactor if you hear a ligth huming on the outside unit this is the being activated. if this is the case then
check to see if any ants are in or around the unit see video, they will usually climb to dry areas before during or after a storm and for some reason they like the contactor if this is the case cut all power to the unit and clean contactor spray the area around the unit with an insecticide ( not the contactor) replace cover and test unit. Due to the many different questions I see about Air Conditioning, I am including this overview to help us better understand each other for trouble shooting. A basic air conditioning system has a Thermostat, Air Handler or Furnace Fan and a Condensing unit. In a split system, the condensing unit (Condenser) is separate from the furnace and usually in the back yard. When working properly, it blows hot air. It connects to the cooling part of the system by 2 copper lines. One large line and 1 small line. The part that cools the house is the "Evaporator" and is usually on top of the furnace inside the square metal box (Plenum). When the Air Conditioner is running, the large copper line should be cold and the smaller line should be warm. Common signs of low refrigerant are that both lines are the same temperature and/or frost or ice has built up on the large line at the condenser. The thermostat will normally display room temperature on till it is touched to change the setting. It could have a "Span" setting as well as times and temperatures. The operating "span" of MOST residential thermostats is 40 to 90 degrees. That means you can set it as low as 40 degrees and no higher than 90 degrees. It probably has a fan switch also. When in the "ON" position, the fan will run constantly, 24 / 7, but the condenser will still cycle on and off as needed to keep the house at set point. If you have a suggestion to include in this paragraph, please let me know.

I think I have it covered above. Let me know if you need something more specific. Thank you. Roger

Hi,
You are right. The outside unit starts quickly. The humming will either be the evaporator fan or the AC compressor itself. If you can reach into the evaporater fan with something narrow and stiff you may be able to see if the fan turns. Sorry for the trouble you are having.
One or the other is trying but unable to start, hence the humming.

I have outside Goodman-Janitrol furnace and air unit and

two things to try first to get you pointed in the right direction. First disconnect the R or RH wire from the T-Stat. If the furnace turns off (Stops firing w/ fan to turn offabout 90 sec. later) then you more than likely have a bad Thermistat. If it continues to run Pull the R wire from the Furnace circuit board. put door back on furnace if it stops you have a short in the wire. Still Running? Most likely a bad curcuit board. Hope this helps.

Recalibrating temp

On our similar Goodman system, this is done through the programable digital thermostat and its menu system.
The control electronics of the furnace unit is pretty stupid and does what it is told with the exception of certain local functions such as establishing burner operation and whether the outside unit is running prior to turning on the air mover .
Check the instructions for your thermostat and if no manual is at hand, the website of the thermostat's mfr. for a downloadable replacement copy.  The thermostat unit supplied with our system has provisions for off-setting the thermostat via the built-in menu.

Turn breaker on to furnace and the exhuast fon comes and ac will not come on

There should be two separate breakers for the cooling system. The furnace breaker you turned on. Now there should be a double breaker in the power panel labeled A/C or Air Conditioner. In addition there should be a disconnect at or near the outside unit. Make sure it is in the on position also. Set the thermostat to cool and the outside unit should start and run.
