Quickbooks Pro 2007- Not Responding

Hi. I reinstalled Quickbooks Pro 2007 on my new PC (Vista is my OS). Everytime I try to use the RECONCILE function, it starts "Not Responding" and I ultimately have to close out of the program. Can you advise?

It's likely a problem with the PDF Converter provided by Intuit. Here are the instructions to fix the problem:

http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/pages/knowledgebasearticle/1007856

If that does not fix your problem, take a look at turning User Account Controls either ON or OFF -

  1. From the Windows Start menu, choose Control Panel.
  2. Double-click User Accounts, and then click Turn User Account Control on or off. Click Continue if asked for permission to continue.
  3. Select the checkbox Use User Account Control (UAC) to help protect your computer and click OK. Close Control Panel.
  4. Restart your computer

Please let me know if this has been helpful or if there is anything else I can do. Thank you.

Hello I am not able yto get into quickbooks

Hi,

If you were able to open the Quickbooks before then you can try these steps:

Run reboot.bat to register QuickBooks files in Microsoft Windows:
  1. Open the folder containing the reboot.bat file:
    • Windows 7 or Vista: Right-click the QuickBooks icon on your desktop and select Open file location.
    • Window XP:
      1. Right-click the QuickBooks icon on your desktop and select Properties.
      2. Click Find Target.
  2. Double-click the reboot.bat file.
  3. Restart the computer - Reopen Quickbooks.
If these would not work:
You have to reinstall Quickbooks.

Hope this helps!
Good Luck!

Reconciling

If you are trying to reconcile to your bank balance, you should not be reviewing the "deposit detail" report.

1) Go to "Banking" then "Reconcile"
2) If the "Opening Balance" is incorrect, then close the "reconcile" window and go to "Reports" then "Banking" then "Bank Reconciliation Discrepancy" report. (This report will reveal what changed after your last successful reconciliation).
3) If the "Opening Balance" is correct, then you want to press "continue" to focus on the bottom of the window, which reveals "total deposits marked as cleared". If you have duplicates, you will see them on the right side of the screen, but the ultimate goal is to have a "Deposits Total" (in QuickBooks) that agrees with the "Deposits Total" (per Bank Statement).

The "Deposit Detail" report is a "Journal Report" to show you details of historical deposit records, Has nothing to do with "reconciling" your current bank balance.

Fixing the reconcile date

Step 1 - Create a new bank account
Step 2 - Make the old bank account a "subaccount" of the new account
Step 3 - Reconcile the new "parent" account.
Step 4 - Merge the "subaccount" with the "Parent" account - Viola!

Does QuickBooksPro 2005 version run with windows vista

I think Intuit draws the support line at 3 years Even though you have probably registered your product, if there is any trouble with it and the new computer, you will be on your own. I think you would be putting yourself in unnecessary jeopardy to upgrade as you describe at this time. (Your business depends on your computer and software, to operate) You must also be aware of Vista troubles.

If you are in the market for a new computer, you may opt for the new Windows 7 OS and possibly upgrade your Quickbooks at the same time for maximum benefit.

If you have the Vista computer - you already have the Quickbooks, it costs nothing to give it a try. Presumably, you have a XP computer with Quickbooks on it now ... If the Vista - Quickbooks combo doesn't work out you could upgrade the Vista to Windows 7 ... you have nothing to loose in this senerio.

I hope I have provided a little insight for you to consider.

Everytime I open QuickBooks 2007 it locks up and then shuts down. I have been working in it today. Any ideas?

Have you restarted your computer? If so then it might need to be reinstalled. Just make sure you back up so you dont lose any of your work in quickbooks.

Reinstalling 2002 pro

Sorry to tell you that you will need to upgrade. Quickbooks is only compatable with Vista in 2008 and up. Quckbooks is not doing anything to resolve older issues.

Need quickbooks 2005 help need to go back and reconcile cleared transactions but I can't locate when I go to reconcile, I can only find data in register

The most common cause for this is that when you open the reconcile window, the account chosen is not the same account as where the tranasctions are located. Make sure of the account name you are reconciling. Also, look at the trasnactions in the register. If they have an asterisk next to them, they are indicating that they are tentatively cleared. Click on the asterisk until the box is blank. They should show in the reconcile window then. Some versions of the program would allow you clear the transactions directly in the register by placing the cleared checkmark on them. Some older versions would not accept them once this was done, and you had to completely clear the marks in order to reconcile. Also, be sure of the type of account you are trying o reconcile.
If these answers don't resolve the issue, let me know and we will see what we can do.
