There is usually a setting on the camera that is for closeups. It may be like a flower image or something on the little wheel at the top you have to set it on. I would suggest looking it up in your owners manual.
The problem is that your camera is either sending out random signals because it is confused (did you ever get it wet?) Or that it is defective and you need to get the warranty on it.
