The battery icon on my iphone 3g always says its 100% full. It will be at 100% until it finally dies. I tried resetting by holding home key and power key at the same time and it did not work. Can I reset the icon without having to restore the whole phone?

Formatting an iPhone 3G will erase all the data on your phone, delete all your apps and reset your phone to factory settings. Formatting your phone is a good last resort if you're having software issues with your phone. Keep in mind that the format is permanent and any data irrecoverable.
INSTRUCTIONS:
1.Click
the "Settings" icon.
2.Select
"General."
3.Scroll
to the bottom and select "Reset."
4.Select
"Erase All Content and Settings." A warning message will display.
Confirm your selection. The iPhone screen will turn off then show a
"waiting" sign. After formatting is complete, the Apple logo will
display and finally your formatted iPhone will reboot.
Some of the advice from the reply from Joed911 is correct. I used to work tech support for Apple Care on the iPhone, and I can tell you that there is no link in iTunes that say's "Unlock your iPhone" THESE ARE YOUR OPTIONS .............. 1) Your daughter can remember the password she set. 2) You will need to restore his iPhone using iTunes. *** Assuming # 1 is not an option I have instructions on how to restore his iPhone. Restoration of iPhone to original factory defaults will fix your problem, with the downside that all data and information stored on your phone will be lost. Normally iTunes will make a backup automatically when you connect and sync the iPhone with the program, however, it?s still a good recommendation to copy out and backup everything that you may need on the phone before proceed to restore the iPhone. To manually back up his iphone: ~Connect to itunes , on the left side of the itunes page you will see the iphone icon. ~ Right click the iphone icon ( under devices) and choose back-up from the drop down box. To restore iPhone and reset the phone to default factory settings, follow these steps: ***Easiest way to restore his iPhone: (this will work if his iphone is recognized in iTunes under devices) ~ Just left click on the iPhone icon under devices in itunes , ~ under the summary pane you will the option to restore his iphone. ~ click "RESTORE IPHONE" ~ wait for the process to finish restoration . ***** If his iPhone is not recognized in itunes under devices you will not see the iPhone icon. In this case you will need to restore with this method. 1. Turn off iPhone ? Hold down the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the red slider. Ignore this step if your iPhone is already off. 2. Press and hold down the Home button for about 10 seconds until a yellow triangle with a text which says Please Connect to iTunes appears. iPhone Recovery Mode 3. Plug the iPhone into Mac or Windows PC. Release the button if you haven?t. 4. Run and open iTunes if it?s not already opened yet. 5. iTunes will prompt a message that says iTunes has detected an iPhone in recovery mode. Click OK. 6. You will be taken to the iPhone pane. Then, click on Restore. 7. Wait for the full restoration process to complete, and the iPhone will be back to the original settings. AFTER RESTORING THE IPHONE YOU CAN >>>RIGHT CLICK IPHONE AGAIN UNDER DEVICES AND CHOOSE RESTORE FROM BACK-UP TO REPLACE SOME OF HIS INFO PREVIOUSLY ON THE IPHONE. Hope this was helpful , and Good Luck !! Teresa
i live in the UK and the reason why my iPhone 3GS does that is because some areas are not covered by a 3G network, so it uses normal internet also check in your settings that the 3G is on, as soon as i come in to a 3G area the 3G icon is back on
I've tried to lock the iPhone to my tele provider in stead of letting it search for available networks (the automatic option in settings). Seems to work. But I will also get a new sim card. Strange problem though...
Try hooking it to itunes then hold the home and power buttons for 6 secs. then release the power button and keep holding the home button until itunes sees the phone then restore.
The first step is to try a hard reset. Simply hold down the home and power buttons simultaneously for 5-10 seconds until the screen goes black and then the iPhone reboots.
If this doesnt work you should wait until the iPhones' battery dies and then plug it into a wall charger and then update me from there and I can help you further.
Please rate me,
Thanks.
...no, no - If you have really LG KS20 there is known this battery issue, most probably caused by the LG battery driver contained in the ROM... As I described many times here: ...this can be solved, but is not so easy if you are not experienced with flashing new ROM - already described here: http://www.fixya.com/support/t1052152-lg_ks20_battery_level_issue
