Hi

Many dishwashers (but not all) use a BI-metal strip that heats up once poweris applied to it. The BI-metal strip bends and allows the soap door spring toopen up the dispenser. This bi-metal strip is not given full 120 volts power, the timer "shunts" the power through either the heating element (most common ) or the motor and this gives the bi-metal strip lower than fullpower to work and open. Most often the bi-metal strip has lost its ability tobend properly and needs to be replaced. Older GE dishwashers used a mechanicalarm driven by the timer to open the dispenser = no electrical bi-metals.

Newer Frigidaire dishwashers and many newer Whirlpool dishwashers use a wax motor to open the soap dispenser. The plunger insidethe wax motor slowly moves and pushes the plunger and door open. And, if thiswax motor doesn’t receive 120 volts, then it’ll not work.

This will help you --

Soap door opens during cycle, but soap does not dispense??

Hello Eric, thank you for your post!

I understand that the dispenser on your Frigidaire dishwasher opens but the soap is not dispensing into your dishwasher. How old is your dishwasher soap? If it is around a year old you may need to discard it and use a new soap. Also check to make sure when you stack dishes that they are not obstructing the arms from reaching the dispenser. Make sure your spray arms are clear of any debris that could block the distribution of water inside of your dishwasher. You may need to connect with a professional technician for proper repairs if these steps do not correct your issues. I hope this information is helpful to you. -Matt

Dispenser door will not open

Hey friend, thank you for the post!

I understand that your soap dispenser door will not open on your Frigidaire dishwasher, LGBD2432LW0A. You could possibly be seeing an issue with soap dispenser not getting water into it to release the soap from dispensing. I would check to make sure there are no dishes blocking or obstructing the soap dispenser. You could also remove the soap dispenser to clean it and make sure there is no buildup of any previous detergent remaining that would cause the door to not open. If those steps do not solve the issue it could be a problem with the dispenser and I would recommend having a tech come out to the home to properly diagnose and repair the dishwasher. Hope this is helpful. -Matt

Frigidaire affinity soap dispenser doesnt work

Good Morning Friend, this is Z. I appreciate your post!

I see that you have a Frigidaire washer and that you are having trouble with the soap dispenser. Is the soap dispenser not dispensing bleach or softener? Is there water left in the dispenser? Are you able to open and/or close the dispenser? Also, may I have your model number please? You can normally locate the serial on the upper front, as you open the door. With this information I can better address the issue at hand. Thank you!

The soap dispenser only opens sometimes. When the dispenser doesn't open the soap is in a solid cake inside dispenser.

IF DISPENSER IS CLOSED WHEN FINISHED COMPLETE CYCLE .
THERE ARE TWO WAYS THAT D/W'S
OPEN THE DISPENSER ONE IS BY WAY OF TIMER TRIPPING LATCH, OTHER IS BY WAY OF BIMETAL IN THE DOOR. THE SOLID IS BECAUSE OF THE MOISTURE ABSORPTION OF THE SOAP. THIS IS ASSUMING THAT YOU HAVE NOT BLOCKED THE DISPENSER DOOR WITH SOME OBSTRUCTION.

Soap dipenser

Try this... Wipe out the soap dish with white vinegar and a soft cloth.. make sure you get everything off the edges of the door and look for any nicks, blemishes or deformation of the dispenser door to make sure it is not mechanically binding up when it is cycled open. If Ok.. then.. clean your drain filter.. then.. start a wash cycle using the hottest setting ( without any dishes) .. and after about 10 minutes or so.. stop the process and open the door and add in 2 cups of white vinegar.. Let it complete the wash cycle.. When complete..try running a dishless cycle on any setting with detergent ( use about 1/3 less than you usually use) and see if that dispense adequately. If that works, then the next time you load the washer. make sure you don't have anything up against or limiting the door from opening. Hope this helps..

Soap dispenser doesn't open

I have had the same problem in the past. Usually I found that something of large size was sitting in the corner just in front of where the soap door opens. The door tries to open, hits this item (in my case a cutting board) and can't open completely. Try keeping only short items in this corner and see if it helps. Good luck!

I have a kenmore dishwasher. the soap dispenser lid was not opening and releasing the soap, now the lid is opening but it's leaving the soap in the dipenser. have used the pellets that contains the liquid...

disasemble the pump housing and remove the debris that are located in the housing, not enough pump pressure to spin the spray arms to desolve the detergent
