Sometimes lapstops and PCS as well as Cameras can go out of line. That is the formatting in a particular PC may not be able to be read in another.
In you case this may not be so, as the card now cannot be seen. It would have been interesting to see if it could have read it before it was formatted by your laptop. Try another card in the camera first. If no other card can be read then the problem is on the read head of the camera.

This may be just dirt or damage, and it will have to be repaired. But try another card first as the card is cheaper than a repair.

Nikon Coolpix S3300 can not read memory card but card works fine in other devices.

Bob. Your camera can work with all modern SD cards. But it is picky sometimes. It like to work with a format the camera makes. So before you use a memory card, do format it in the camera like it is printed in the manual on the bottom of page 18

Why my 4GB SDcard can not work at my NIKON coolpix 5900

There are no 4GB SD cards. "SD" cards larger than about 1GB are actually SDHC cards. SD and SDHC cards fit the same slots, but they are slightly different electrically. Many cameras won't work with SDHC (high capacity) cards. SDHC is not backwards compatible.

I found one in my desk at work. It's missing a memory card thus no one is using it. What kind does it take? Can it be by any brand?

It can take a SD memory card or SDHC memory card, recommended brands: SanDisk, Toshiba and Panasonic from 128 MB to 4 GB capacities.

The manual and other information for the Coolpix L18 is available from Nikon: http://www.nikonusa.com/Nikon-Products/Product-Archive/Digital-Camera/25596/COOLPIX-L18.html . The list of memory cards is on page 91.

I hope this helps.

Nikon Coolpix 5900/4 GB Kingston SD Card

The 5900 uses SD cards. The 4GB card you have is actually an SDHC card and will not work in the 5900. You'll have to stay with cards 2GB and smaller.

Nikon coolpix s51 digtal camera memory card says can not be used?

hi..
There is a tab on the memory card so you will you need to remove it from the camera and change the position of this tab to "unlock" it.
You need to unlock the card itself. Take it out and look for a tab on the left. It should be pushed up.
