WH45X10060 - is this a joke?

This is the basket hub & ring assembly for my GE top loader washer. I really only need the hub since mine decided to shear off the screws and come apart. Any idea if it's possible to only get the hub?

$260-$460 makes this a ridiculous purchase since the washer new was probably only $550 new.

Didn't realize GE was such garbage when I bought it - so, what brand is good if I move on?

When you get the new base, paint it with refrigerator epoxy. Use 3 coats and that won't happen again.

I agree with yah, they dont want to sell the base plate... Try WH45X10024 might have to install stainless nuts behind the plate to make it work.

Sorry I posted the wrong part number. WH45X10027

Just in case anyone is looking to try this, I did: they're not lying when they say the hub is different. WH45X10027 is slightly too large, and the holes don't line up (plus it doesn't have the same ridges on the bottom). I can't find the hub for the basket sold separately anywhere.

Hub is part # wh45x10027. Around $50-60 on eBay.

  • David Riley
    David Riley Dec 15, 2018

That's a hub for a lot of GE washers, but not this one. I just tried this in case I could skip buying the whole assembly (or a new washer), and they're definitely different; hub WH45X10027 is larger than the hub for assembly WH45X10060, so it doesn't fit and the holes don't line up. My old hub was so corroded the middle was gone (they're all made of aluminum, and it seems either my water or detergent attacks them), but it seems like the HydroWave ones have a set of ridges on the bottom that the standard hubs don't. Still, I can get the assembly meaningfully cheaper than a decent new washer.

For some reason best known to GE, they have decided not to supply the drive hub on its own. I have a GE PTWN6050M0WT washer sitting in my garage doing nothing. It needs the hub, not the tub and it's not worth the $500 GE wants for the whole assembly. I would love to hear GE's explanation as to why they don't supply the hub only. The same goes for other manufacturers who don't supply the spider on its own for some front load washers. What is stopping a third party manufacturer from copying and producing the part? The Chinese are usually very active in producing copies of just about everything. What's stopping them from producing and selling this GE hub?

I feel you need fix the root cause a Leaky Tub Seal.

FAV6800A/FAV9800A Outer Tub bearing replacement

See what is involved and iff you decide to go forward I will help on that forum. This forum is just to difficult to work in with no edit feature.

The Clicking sound may be a broken Large Wrap spring.

Place the washer with a load in the wash basket start a Spin Only cycle and release the washer top jus high enough to observe wash basket Spin action. There may be none to very little. If you drop the Clutch Pulley out I believe you will find much rust. You have to replace that tub seal and I would do a complete outer tub rebuild. Without replacing the Clutch Pulley around $60 for bearings, Tub and Seal Tranny O-ring.

There is a musty oder coming from inside washing machine.

Dump in a gallon of white vinegar, fill with water, highest setting, after it goes through that setting, turn it off and let it set in the washer for about 30 minutes (use hot water).

Then put it on another wash cycle and then go to the rinse and spin. This should remove the order, and you should leave the door open when not in use.

Good Luck

GE washer WJSR4160G0WW agitation is way too fast & hard

check the 4 rubber cords at the top of the tub. If the washer has been moved they may need to be adjusted, you can see them by looking between the top of the tub and the top cover. You can turn them with your hand, and you may need to tighten them after.

Washer drains but won't spin.

The next time this condition occuers, take the front panel off the machine and look under the top cover of the motor at the right front side. There is a LED light on the motor inverter board there. If it is flashing twice, then a pause, then repeating this again and again you most likely have a loose hub nut on your wash basket. (the motor reads this as belt slippage)
1. Order and install a new hub washer (WH2X1199) and a new split ring (WH2X1195) along with a new hub nut (WH2X1193). If the hub part of the basket is worn, replace that as well (plastic tub models = WH45X10027, SS tub = hub / basket WH45X10060.
2. Tighten hub nut, torque to 110 ft-lbs.
3. Clear flash code error. (your method to clear code is a bit more extreme than required, but will work)

GE Profile WPRE6100G Top Load Washer. The hub nut loosens

You do not have a "high torque" motor (which would have required motor replacement along with these other parts).
Install a new hub washer WH2X1199, split ring WH2X1195, and hub nut WH2X1193. Inspect the hub on the inner basket for wear. If it is worn, the entire SS inner basket (WH45X10060) will also have to be replaced to prevent continued problems. If possible, tighten hub nut with torque wrench to 110 ft-lbs. I hope you did not purchase from Sears. (Sears sold machines are sold with NO FACTORY WARRANTY of any kind. For those, GE will tell you to call Sears.) If not from Sears, you may be able to get some assistance from GE customer relations if you need the inner basket. Your machine was manufactured in Nov. 06, so most likely was purchased over one year ago.
Note: If you look at the board on the top portion of the motor, you should see a LED light flashing on the right front side. It should flash about 1 second on, 1 second off (unless motor running, then .5 on, .5 off) Other flashes indicate various problems. To reset code if necessary, unplug motor for at least 15 seconds, then plug in, wait 3-5 seconds, then open and close lid 5 times within next 10 seconds.
If this does not rate a Fix-Ya for you, please don't bother rating, as I don't like to see my score drop after giving this much free advise.
Thanks.
