Was trying to get back in touch with you about the stator wire from the ignition it should be a purple wire on the solenoid to the ignition switch.

  • Anonymous Sep 21, 2009

Check the purple wire coming out of the ignition switch and ensure you have power coming out of it to the starter and ensure that the rod from the key to the switch is fully activating the switch to send power out.

The LARGE wire goes on the LARGE stud on the Starter, the smaller wiers maybe there also EXCEPT for the purple wire, goes on the "S" terminal.

I have a 1977 Corvette, L48, automatic, Dead elctrical system

It is more than likely in a fuseable Link coming off of the battery or off of the alternator causing your power lose. How many grounds did you check, because there are at least two grounds on the car. The first one is the main ground off of battery and the second one coming off of the back of the engine.

What should be the normal operating oil pressure reading (psi) for a 1979 Corvette L48, 350 small block? Thank you. Del

It depends if you have a high volume oil pump or a factory one but either way if your pressure is between 35 psi to 60 psi you have no problem this is at road speed your oil pressure at idle should at least 25 and 30 would be better
