Mitsubishi VS-5041 (TV turns on but no pic or sound)
I have a Mitsubishi VS-5041 projection tv. Everytime I turn the tv on, there is a click sound, but the light next to the power button does not illuminate. I tried plugging the power cord in various outlets, tried different inputs, tried adjusting the volume but there is still no picture or sound. Please help!!!
I have the same exact problem with my television. The tech that had answered the question previously mentioned that the problem could be 2 different issues, but only mentions 1. What is the other problem the tv could have? Let's say that problem is the power regulator...how could I go about replacing it....although dangerous....if I wanted to? Please Help
No..I don't get any lights. When I hit the power button all the tv does is make a clicking sound like it's going to turn on,but it doesn't....the little light that's suppose to turn on, on the power button doesn't. No sound either. I have a feeling it has to do with some sort of switch to kick the tv over...or maybe the power source doesn't have enough juice...I don't know...what do you think?
Please Help...Thanks.

I have the "exact" same problem that therickerz's describes in his post for my Mitsubishi VS-5041. Prior to it going out for the last time, the picture and sound would go out while watching. Shutting it off and turning it on after a few hours or the next day, it would come back on. lt did this about a dozen times over the last two months before finally shutting down. Now when I try to turn it on or off all I hear is a clicking sound and no green power "on" light next to the power button. A similar post for the same problem/modle no. on another site suggests it may be the power supply board. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot or cost to repair, would be greatly appreciated.I have the "exact" same problem that therickerz's describes in his post for my Mitsubishi VS-5041. Have a VS-5041 Mits I bought in 1995. It was working fine, turned it off one day and tried to turn it back on about 30 mins later. All I heard was a clicking sound. After moving the tv to another part of the room, it worked for maybe a day. then while watching a program it went out, picture and sound, only the faint clicking of a small relay inside when turned on. I checked (7) different fuses inside but all were o.k.. I was actually looking for some magic reset button but found none. No answer yet on a fix.After moving the tv to another part of the room, it worked for maybe a day. then while watching a program it went out, picture and sound, only the faint clicking of a small relay inside when turned on. well my guess is it's protection mode, have you tried to unplug the set? my next guess would be convergance ic or horz output transistor it really hard with out troubleshooting. if you have the skill to fix it yourself you can try this http://home.earthlink.net/~oleg.filippov... well my guess is it's protection mode, have you tried to unplug the set? my next guess would be convergance ic or horz output transistor it really hard with out troubleshooting. if you have the skill to fix it yourself you can try this http://home.earthlink.net/~oleg.filippov/ConvergenceFix.htm

your set is not a DLP its a traditional rear projection tv set and has three picture tubes
there is not a bulb or color wheel in this model
if its dead ? you would need to check the power supply first to see if you have the proper voltages . the trouble shoot the rest of the circuits to see what is shutting it down . convergence circuit failure is always a good suspect in these sets
Good Day, rob;
More than likely you have CRT coolant (fuild) on the board(s). Check this by removing the TV's speaker grill, the small panel and look for the fluid using a bright light. It's not always easy to see, if fluid is found remove it with acetone and use heavy plastic and drape loosely over the board in the front. Always remove POWER from TV BEFORE ATTEMPTING ANY SERVICE. Good Luck, big IRISH.
you can do a self-diagnosis test by pressing the menu and input/device button on set for 5 sec and see what error code it gives you. Count the blinks followed by a short pause then more blinks. This is the error code.
Your problem is one and or 2 differant problems. The power regulator could have went bad because of the convergence IC have shorted. Seen this a thousand(easy that!)Times. All parts in this set are soldered in and are not user serviceable. look in your owners manual or call 800-332-2119 to get an authorized servicer to come and look at your problem . I wish i could tell you what to replace but theres the Extreme Hi voltage inside these sets even when they are not plugged in .. Good Luck
