Please go get a universal remote control.
That should do the trick. Just follow the programming procedure.
Good luck.
Hi,
The manufacture recommends that there are no user serviceable parts
inside. This is due to high voltage being present even with the TV
unplugged. The problem can be the infrared sensor has failed, it has a
poor solder connection or other components in the control circuit of
the TV have become defective.
If you wish to repair yourself ( Not advisable ), you need to have the service manual and instruments to fix this.
Let me know, if you need further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
Thanks for your response!!
It usually cost less than 125 bucks. It depends on the problem. There are certain sets that had been recalled due to the same problem. It's better to get it fixed from a local tech as they would charge you less as compared to if you call someone from Toshiba.
There is nothing wrong with the set. So, better to get if fixed.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks.

Usually answered in minutes!
How much would it cost to get it fixed? Is it worth it? The set is only 6 years old. 24' Toshiba.
Our remote to our Toshiba 24" quit working--then worked for just a minute or two then quit alltogether. I bought a new remote already pre-progammed and worked like a champ for a few minutes then quit. then rubbed the sensor on the t v with a q-tip and worked again but just for a few minutes now it hasn't worked for at least a month. What next? Is it something a person can fix or do we need to bring it in somewhere?
I already bought a new remote online [a Toshiba] and it did not help!!
Is a new Universal Remote better than a new Toshiba remote?
