Our t.v. remote quit working after working intermitantly --bought a new remote --that doesn't work either --it's not the batteries--what next?

How much would it cost to get it fixed? Is it worth it? The set is only 6 years old. 24' Toshiba.

Our remote to our Toshiba 24" quit working--then worked for just a minute or two then quit alltogether. I bought a new remote already pre-progammed and worked like a champ for a few minutes then quit. then rubbed the sensor on the t v with a q-tip and worked again but just for a few minutes now it hasn't worked for at least a month. What next? Is it something a person can fix or do we need to bring it in somewhere?

Please go get a universal remote control.

That should do the trick. Just follow the programming procedure.

Good luck.

Hi,

The manufacture recommends that there are no user serviceable parts inside. This is due to high voltage being present even with the TV unplugged. The problem can be the infrared sensor has failed, it has a poor solder connection or other components in the control circuit of the TV have become defective.

If you wish to repair yourself ( Not advisable ), you need to have the service manual and instruments to fix this.

Let me know, if you need further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

    Thanks for your response!!

It usually cost less than 125 bucks. It depends on the problem. There are certain sets that had been recalled due to the same problem. It's better to get it fixed from a local tech as they would charge you less as compared to if you call someone from Toshiba.

There is nothing wrong with the set. So, better to get if fixed.

    Hope i helped you.

    Thanks.

Just bought a Toshiba refurbished DVD/VCR player. The remote doesn't work at all. I've doublechecked the NEW batteries and tried a tip of pushing EVERY button with the batteries out. Any ideas

1) the batteries will be the same type and full charged
2) clean the contacts battery from dirty, dust, oxide or corrosion
3) retight the spring contacts battery with pliers for a GOOD contacts
4) open the remote.control and clean the keypads switch, from dirty, dust, oxide, Open contacts, or Bad contacts. they emite a good signal infrared from SYScon transmi vs Syscon receiver.
see the block diagram. If doesnot resolve the problem go to the repair shop TV for fix it.
God bless you

We have just bought a home that 3 of the living room/dining room fans are on 1 remote and that remote has quit. We've put in a new battery but it still doesn't work. Can they just go bad ??? Where...

Yes, they can. Another possibility, however, is the jumper settings could have been accidently changed when the battery was changed. Inside the remote is usally four little switches in a row, each can be on or off (zero or one). These need to be set to the same values as the receivers in the fans.

My TV remote control has stopped working. I've tried changing the batteries but it still doesn't work. Any tips or do I have to get a new one?

Check for rusted battery contacts due to leaked batteries. Clean them with polish paper or blade. Due to leaked batteries it is quite likely that the wires connecting remote control pcb & battery contacts are cut off.

The remote for my 20: LCD TV has stopped working, i have changed out the batteries and even bought a new one but still nothing. What should i do?

there are several things to try.. first, isolate the source of the problem... get a universal remote (borrow one from a friend if you don't have one--get the instructions, too)...then program it for your tv...if the UR doesn't work, then there is a problem with either the tv or its remote sensor...try the troubleshooting guide for the tv or call the customer service line (ask if there are similar probs going around for that model..you might get some special incentive to quit ****, if so..) If it DOES work, then it's your remote...best thing to do is make sure that the batts are good (which you did....but make sure you didn't get a fresh set of batteries from the same bad lot - it happens)...then check to make sure that the connections for the batteries are not missing, broken, or bent.. Look for corrosion, loose wires, solder gone...anything you can see which might cause your problem...Nothing visible? send it back..or try to exchange it at the store you bought it from, if it's a currently selling model Hope that helps you

Car remote not working

Sounds like you need a remote, or the remote lost its program. You need to check at the dealership to be sure.

REMOTER CONTROL QUIT WORKING

Well I have three suggestions for you. First off I wouldn't recommend including personal information including your full name and address on a place such as this. There are alot of crooks out there. Second, try unplugging the television and taking the batteries out of the remote control at the same time. Leave it like this for atleast 5 minutes and then plug it back in and replace the remote with new batteries. If that doesn't correct the problem, my next suggestion is to buy a new replacement ILO Remote Control, a good site is http://www.remotecontrolscenter.com but there are other sites out there that sell the original replacement remote control. Hopefully this helps solve your problem!
