NOT SCANNING CORRECTLY

I have a Symbol LS2208 keyboard wedge scanner. It was working fine for 2 weeks and then all of a sudden it gave me a problem.
One day half way through the day I scanned a item and the scanner displayed about half the bar code digits on the screen and then gave 4 long beeps and the red led came on on the scanner.
Now it seems to scan ok for about 13 times and then the same as above happens.Sometimes it displays about half the bar code digits followed by the current date and time.
I have tried re-configuring the scanner but notyhin helps.
Please help.Thanks.

Thanks for your solution. It is a keyboard wedge config.

That means it has a ps/2 that plugs in pc and then a ps/2 adapter on this cable for the keyboard. It is a 6 foot cable.

I seemed to have solved the problem by setting the keystroke delay to about 40ms.Ever since I did this all seems ok.

    Thanks for your reply.

    Much appreciated.

I'm guessing you are using the USB version and the power that comes from the comuter via the USB cable.

It is quite likely that the problem you are having is due to power sag. .500ma is the limit from P.C. s

Do you have a 15 foot cord on there? If so try a 6 foot cord. Sagging still occurs with a 6 foot cable ...but only half as much. If the problem goes away you are on the right track.

I have a cable (I should say Motorola has a cable) with a separate power supply that should fix the problem.

Why Symbol LS2208 keyboard wedge not scanning correctly?

Do you have more than one of this model scanner? If so, I would test a different one on the same computer to make sure it is not a computer issue. Be sure to test it in the same USB port to get an accurate test.

Having a second scanner would also allow you to switch out the cable connecting the scanner to the computer. The end of the cable which plugs into the scanner is an RJ45/Ethernet end. You will need a flat head screw driver to push down on the tab to release it from the scanner. Swap the cables and see if the problem follows the cable or the scanner. If it follows the cable, you can replace the cable for cheap. If it follows the scanner, I would plug the scanner into the working computer and reset the scanner to factory default using the Symbol Book of programming barcodes.

Try a different USB port with the original scanner.

You can also reset to factory default if you don't have a second scanner using Symbols book of programming barcodes.

Can't get my computer to communicate and update the Symbol LS2208 barcode scanner.

When you scanned the "set defaults" barcode in the manual, you erased all "host parameters". Find the appropriate HOST barcode and scan it. That should establish communication with the host (Keyboard Wedge, USB, Serial) If you are having issues, contact the Motorola Help Desk at 1-800-653-5350 or me at 1-866-306-7226

LS2208 Can get it to work no driver

If your scanner shipped with a keyboard wedge cable and you are using a PS/2 to USB adapter all you should have to do is scan the IBM AT Notebook barcode on Adobe page 56 of 342 of the LS2208 Product Reference Guide. I suggest saving a copy of the document to your host then printing just that page. Scan the barcode then try scanning your barcode. If the computer still does not see your barcode try rebooting. If this still does not resolve your issue you may want to purchase a USB cable. The part number is CBA-U01-S07ZAR.

If you have the CBA-U01-S07ZAR and the scanner is not sending data then you should scan the HID Keyboard Emulation barcode from the QRG that came with the device or Adobe page 109 of 342 of the guide referenced above. I hope this helps.

Hello! I have a problem with scanning bar codes by ls2208 scanner. This device uses rs232 serial port, and when I try to read some bar code, the scanner is reading, but there is no number in notepad. How...

Hi,

The scanner is sending the data to the serial port. You need an application to pull that data in off of the COM port. You can test using HyperTerminal. The scanner defaults to 9600 baud, 8 data bits, 1 stop bit, no parity and no hardware or software handshaking. Point HyperTerminal to the correct COM port (most likely COM1) and set it to the settings I just listed. When you scan you should see the data show up in the window.

If you want the data to go into Notepad or any other program expecting keyboard strokes I would recommend the Motorola (formerly Symbol) USB cable CBA-U01-S07ZAR or the CBA-K01-S07PAR keyboard wedge cable.

Can't install Symbol LS2208 barcode scanner on a PC (Wedge cable)

You will need to scan the barcode that configures the LS scanner to use keyboard wedge or even the set all defaults barcode. You will be able to find both of this on the product reference guide that you can download from www.symbol.com in the support page.

LS2208 works - Keyboard does not

Check that the wedge is good. It is basically a hybrid spltter that powers both the scanner and the keyboard.
USB keyboard?
If so, you may want to go direct to either a serial port or a USB direct connection

Scanner Symbol Ls2208 keyboard not work

The scanner does not detect the keyboard host on power up and is locking up your keyboard. The IBM PC/AT host type barcode must be scanned the first time it is setup. The barcode is on Adobe page 56 of 342 of the LS2208 Product Reference Guide. The scanner should start working immediately after the host type barcode is scanned.
