Changed filter water leaking out of ice maker even when shut off

if u have changed the filter and it wasnt letting water though before you changed it, then some foreign material has come out of the filter and has wedged its self under the plunger of the water solenoid holding it open

I have a Kitchenaid Superba and when ever we turn on the ice maker. it says our filter needs to ebe changed. is that a problem? However before even when the filter was bad it still made ice. whats wrong?

Most refrigerators with filters will not work...with a bad filter...they will work initially ...for a while after the filter indicates it needs to be changed but over time the filter can become completely clogged...and no water will flow...also the impurities that were being filtered out...are now in the water and the ice and can accumulate in the ice tray...or at the spot where water is dispensed into the tray...with real hard water calcium can build up and inhibit water flow. I would definitely change the filter..... I had the same problem and the filter and the monitor for the filter are tied into the circuitry...so yes it can definitely stop the water flow.

I hope this helps....good luck...please rate me...The Fang
