My Lumix says "remove lens cap" even though the lens cap is removed. It makes a small noise when it is started up that it wasn't making before.

Lens damaged or grit/sand in it. If the lens is out at all then whoever was using it will know what happened, as it was going at the time.

If you think it's sand/grit, try tapping it on the bottom, while holding it lens downwards 1 foot above a piece of white paper, see what falls out.

I fixed these units for 4 years and we used to collect sand and tape it to the camera because customers would deny taking them to the beach. LOL.

I've tried this solution and it does not work. Is there another way to fix the error?

My panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1 shows 3 dark spots and 2 hairs on all pictures. When I zoom-in the dirt is more visible and when I zoom-uit I dont see the hairs any more and the dark spots appear wider and...

Yes, you can clean. Not as complex as I originally thought.
1) Remove all of the silver screws
2) Separate the silver case (should split in 2)
3) Remove the 3 black screws in the middle
4) remove the center square cover that is over the lens
5) Use a duster spray to clean the lense and mirror
6) Reassemble in reverse order
Not knowing what I was going to get in, the entire process only took about 7-10 minutes.

Email me at [email protected] with any questions.

My camera lens won't go back in and is making weird noises.

Since you said it makes noise when you turn it on, the gear system controlling the lens might be faulty. have it checked.

ERROR REMOVE CAP LENS

I had the same problem with mine after I dropped my camera when it was opening up after turning on. It feel directly on the lens and ever sense has told be to remove the lens cap.

I’ve disassembled the camera and discovered that the zoom motor drive assembly has a small set of plastic gears inside that are quite fragile and like mine are easily broken. You’ll find the zoom motor after taking the back assembly of the camera off. It’s located on the bottom left side of the lens assembly if you're looking at the camera as if you were taking a shot.

Here’s the part no. from the Panasonic support web site.....
