Fisher ED56 dryer wont turn off!

Hi. I have a Fisher ED56 model dryer and it will not turn off! Even when the door is open it continues tumbling away. Pressing the power button stops it for a second and then it starts. Opening the door does the same. Very strange! Any ideas? Thanks guys

HI, this will occur if the timer control module or control board has failed. replacing the timer or control will fix this issue.

Fisher paykel dryer ed56

Could be the door switch or temp sensor. To check the door switch put pressure against the door and see if it stops. Check the slot the door hits to see if there is anything loose in there.

F&P ED56 has 2 problems

Yes, (2) certainly sounds like the start/run capacitor has failed. You will see it has a split or bulging case, or a displaced end cap. Replace it with one of the same voltage rating and capacitance.

I can't advise you on (1)

My F&P ED56 dryer just hums when it is turned on. The lights come on and it hums, but it doesn't turn or blow air. We have checked the belt (that is OK), the drum can spin by hand, there is no lint...

sounds like it maybe the motor, here are other reasons the drum won't turn and how to open the dryer. Good Luck Tim:

Fisher & Paykel Dryer model ED56 constant beep

Diagnostic Mode
Entering the Diagnostic Mode
(a) Turn the power supply to the dryer on.
(b) Press and hold the Auto Dry down button, then press the Power
button.
The dryer is now in level 0 of the diagnostic mode. After initial entry into the
diagnostic mode, the Start/Pause button operates the dryer as normal. Press
the Auto Dry up or down buttons to scroll through the fault levels.
There are several levels of diagnostics, most of which are used in
development and production. These levels may bring on various LEDs, but
the level of use for the service technician is that of the last fault.
Last Fault
To enter the last fault diagnostics, enter the diagnostic mode as described
above, then press the Auto Dry up button three times. The last fault will be
displayed on the drying progress LEDs.
The manual is here

My fisher and paykel dryer ( mod# ED56 ) wont start, power is on

I had this same problem with my Dryer. It is making the few quick beeps because it thinks the door is still open. Near the bottom of the opening to the dryer there is a sensor switch that gets pushed in when you shut the door. Try holding the switch in with a knife or something and then start the dryer with the door open to check if that is the problem.
After i did this, i closed the door and my dryer started as normal.
