Get the bearings here.

Part numbers

You'll also need the seal kit.

These guys have them

Part number

I'm not affiliated with either company. If you can find them elsewhere cheaper more power to you.

Maytag told me I had to buy the tub for around $700.

I am halfway through this repair on mine. I haven't ordered the parts yet.

All the parts should cost you around $60-$70 + shipping.

The bearings are very difficult to remove. Some douche online rents a tool for $400 deposit + like $150 rental fee. I pounded mine out with a metal rod. The tool would probably be easier.

Good luck.

For whoever it was that asked. Yes you need both bearings. One bearing goes in from the front (inside) the other goes in from the back. You have to pull out the drum which means you have to pull the front off the tub. You should be able to reuse the seal. If its distorted at the bottom, pull it off and turn it 180 degrees so the (distorted) bottom is at the top. Don't forget to remove the snap ring at the rear bearing! You must put the bearing spacer (between the two bearings) back in when you reinstall.

It sounds like you may have to replace the Outer Tub to replace the Outer Tub bearing .....ain't that just peachy.....good job Maytag design team.

If you are the original owner I would press Maytag hard to replace the Outer Tub based on the Outer tub Bearing failure. Their warranty states third thru tenth year Drive Motor, Outer Tub and Sealed Transmission. I’m sure you will need to have a certified Maytag repair service tech certify the failure and fix action required. Why should an Outer Tub bearing replacement cost you $430. Another poor design issue of this machine.

Great info! After reading your post I did a quick search and found this post on outer tub bearing replacement see maj7th post of Jan 19, 2008 he mentions the 6207-2rs bearings. You mention the two different types of 6200 series bearings. Are there to different bearing types used in the FAV6800AW Outer Tub? Looks like maj7th just used the 6207-2RS that link is to ebay. Thank you for your info and you have my vote.

One more question is this the tool you used to remove the Spinner Nut 12002139 - Spinner Tool Kit, or is there some other tool?

    Hey chris_denise ,

If you replace your outter bearings can you let mo know what bearing type. I'm not clear if the are two 6207-2RS used or one each

6206-2RS, 6207-2RS. Also how did you remove the Spinner Nut? Di you purchase a special tool or 1.75" socket? I believe that is the Spinner Nut size.

    Tnx, Rich

Is it possible to take the bearings and seals out from pulley side of this crosley washer?

no it is not possible. The bearing is part of the rear outer tub. In order to replace it you must take out the whole tub assemble and disassemble it that way. Also be aware that these bearing often go when the inner tub assembly has cracked on its rear mounting bracket so you may be looking at replacing both pieces instead of just one.

Leaking at bottom of washer after it spins out not alot of water but a pain in the ****, how do you get in to the back of the washer?

The FAV6800A and FAV9800A only have access thru the front panel and washer top once released fromt the rear or side access. See Pick of Outer Tub removed for Tub Seal and bearing replacement.

Google ""16022808.pdf"" to find the Service Manual.

Page 33 will show ou how to release the top cover and page 41 for front cover removal.

If you have wash water leaking down on the Clutch Pulley I feel you have a Tub Seal leak. The issues could be related to the drain hose/drain pump or cracked outer tub.

I don't troubleshoot on this forum to difficult to carry on thread. Google ""Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW"" or ""FAV6800A/FAV9800A Outer Tub bearing replacement"". Two DIY forums I frequent that I feel are true DIY forums.

My Maytag Nuptune fav6800aww won't spin. I followed the directions to replace the clutch, but that didn't fix it. The tub will not rotate in either direction. I have taken the transmittion out and it...

Maybe the Outer Tub bearings are seized. With the Clutch Pulley removed the wash basket should rotate within the Outer Tub bearings with one finger in CCW and CW direction does it?

I have a load squeaky sound on my FAV6800AWW washer. THe machine spin but when is starts agitating, the sqeaky sound can be heard.

This could be the start of Outer Tub Bearing issue.

Raise the lid of your washer and rotate the wash basket CCW as fast as you can. Does is spin down slowly to a gentle stop after several revolutions with no bearing noise?

The Service Manual for reference. Sears Parts Direct for reference.

I would by removing the Clutch Pulley and check for One-Way Roller clutches bearing wash water contamination. That will give you a feel for the integrity of the Tub Seal. See my Clutch Fix post for support.

If this is Outer Tub Bearing noise you will have to replace them along with the Tub Seal and Tranny O-ring. The Series 16 machine (I have that one also doesn’t use the upper Clutch bearing ring. That upper One-Way Roller clutches bearing is integrated into one of the Outer Tub bearings.

See this post. This guy bothered me for his statement that I left him hanging. I’m a DIY’er not a appliance tech and most AT’s won’t touch this with a 10 foot poll due to lack of knowledge. I did replace the Outer Tub bearings on a ebay win Series 10 machine. See this post for the details of that.

Don’t get too excited by any of this. 1st determine if the squeaky noise is Outer Tub bearing noise I haven’t had them fail yet but I would suspect you will hear metal against metal grinding of the ball bearings in the bearing race. There will be down time for the tear down and work. You need to determine if this is worth it for your situation. No more than a $85 to replace Outer Tub bearings tub seal tranny o-ring and buy Maytag Spinner Nut removal tool for reassembly and you extend the service life of your $1K machine.

Maytag washer MAV551EEWW top load with loose tub

If the tub seal lets go water will weep into the tub bearing. This will rust the basket shaft and normally wreck the tub bearing. Once the bearings starts to get worn enough it usually gets very noisy. The tub bearing is pressed onto the outer back half of the tub shell assembly. Normally need to replace the inner basket/shaft assembly  and the outer shell with the tub bearing.
Sometimes the inner basket support will crack, this can give an clicking or banging noise as well.
Pictures of this job...
A sure indication was the brown junk/gookus leaking out if the rear bearing area and the belt has spewed it around in the drum that the rear bearing and seal was bad...

The whole outer shell and basket come out to do this repair....what bad bearing and rusted shaft looked like...

I had to remove the back panel. Undo the pump hose & water level hose, remove the 2 shocks, remove the motor, undo the front boot from the outer panel and remove the 2 springs to lift the whole assembly out from the back to work on it.
