I'm not affiliated with either company. If you can find them elsewhere cheaper more power to you.
Maytag told me I had to buy the tub for around $700.
I am halfway through this repair on mine. I haven't ordered the parts yet.
All the parts should cost you around $60-$70 + shipping.
The bearings are very difficult to remove. Some douche online rents a tool for $400 deposit + like $150 rental fee. I pounded mine out with a metal rod. The tool would probably be easier.
Good luck.

For whoever it was that asked. Yes you need both bearings. One bearing goes in from the front (inside) the other goes in from the back. You have to pull out the drum which means you have to pull the front off the tub. You should be able to reuse the seal. If its distorted at the bottom, pull it off and turn it 180 degrees so the (distorted) bottom is at the top. Don't forget to remove the snap ring at the rear bearing! You must put the bearing spacer (between the two bearings) back in when you reinstall.

It sounds like you may have to replace the Outer Tub to replace the Outer Tub bearing .....ain't that just peachy.....good job Maytag design team.
If you are the original owner I would press Maytag hard to replace the Outer Tub based on the Outer tub Bearing failure. Their warranty states third thru tenth year Drive Motor, Outer Tub and Sealed Transmission. I’m sure you will need to have a certified Maytag repair service tech certify the failure and fix action required. Why should an Outer Tub bearing replacement cost you $430. Another poor design issue of this machine.

Great info! After reading your post I did a quick search and found this post on outer tub bearing replacement see maj7th post of Jan 19, 2008 he mentions the 6207-2rs bearings. You mention the two different types of 6200 series bearings. Are there to different bearing types used in the FAV6800AW Outer Tub? Looks like maj7th just used the 6207-2RS that link is to ebay. Thank you for your info and you have my vote.

One more question is this the tool you used to remove the Spinner Nut 12002139 - Spinner Tool Kit, or is there some other tool?
Hey chris_denise ,
If you replace your outter bearings can you let mo know what bearing type. I'm not clear if the are two 6207-2RS used or one each
6206-2RS, 6207-2RS. Also how did you remove the Spinner Nut? Di you purchase a special tool or 1.75" socket? I believe that is the Spinner Nut size.
Tnx, Rich

There is no other way to replace the bearing,it is pressed into the tub at the factory, the seal you can get
but no one makes a bearing..
Clutch issue and possible time for a tub seal replacement
Google this for a post that covers the Clutch removal and inspection/repair;
""Neptune TL Washer FAV6800AWW"" you will find the Service Manual in post 5 of that sticky.
Google this for Outer Tub bearing rebuild;"" FAV6800A/FAV9800A Outer Tub bearing replacement""
Was the Clutch Pulley One-Way Roller clutches bearing rusted up severely or only slightly? I'm trying to get a feel for a Tub Seal leak........Rich
