Our Maytage with bottom freezer and ice maker has a greatly diminished water flow from the port inside the fridge. The icemaker is producing what I call 'skeleton' ice cubes as they are the shape of an ice cube, but mostly hollow. Lots of nighttime noise from this (at least it is more noticeable when the house is quiet). I notice that when I open the freezer drawer, the noise stops and starts immediately upon closing it, so there must be an interlock. I've raised the sensor bar on the icemaker, but it still makes the noise once the drawer is closed.
Any ideas on this? I'd be okay with just making the noise stop for now.
Thanks,
Mark
The flow of water is controlled by a solenoid. Thus magnetic -- rather electromagnet which mones the vale from open & close, both in the ice-maker & the water dispenser.
Thus the valve which is activated when door closes, must have lost its earlier condition and must be making an irritable buzz whenever its on. Simply get the Valve assembly replaced, preferably from their authorized service center closest to your place of residence.
The answer to your last comment is "yes". The same vale fills both as required but if the solenoid has weakened then only a part of the valve will open up......................sodeep
It is the same problem that you had while still under warranty and the solution is also the same as before.......................sodeep

Okay, thank you. What if I want to explore this further myself? I unplugged the the ice maker and that stopped the noise. I am curious if the same pump or same solenoid provides water to both the ice maker and water dispenser within the fridge. It seems that the water must go to the ice maker first and because it is not filling, it constantly groans trying to get water into the freezing tray or mold (or whatever it is called). That would explain why my water dispenser in the fridge isn't working if the ice maker can't get any water. So what can I do myself? I managed to troubleshoot my dishwasher to a bad solenoid, but it was under warranty. This one will be on me. Thanks again.

my water dispenser would work sporadically and then stopped. The problem was that the freezer had iced up in the back and froze the water line. Once I took out all my food from the freezer., I melted the ice and now the water is flowing great!
