I have the GE Duet Gas dryer and it takes 3 hours to dry sheets, towels, jeans or anything. All lint traps are clean. Everything on dryer seems to work fine, but everything that comes out of the dryer is just warm and always damp.

  • GeorgeWW May 26, 2008

Having the same problem on the duet...no heat is coming from the dryer...cleared the vent but still the same problem.

  • naron Jun 07, 2008

Same problem. Purchased dryer one year ago. No heat. Blows cool air on all cycles. Checked all except the element at this time. Another thing: When dryer is turned off, but knob is turned to a setting, there is a strange quiet clicking sound coming from the back of the dryer. Clicks in all settings except the automatic dry...when the dryer is not running.

  • mama mzungu Apr 06, 2009

I just want to say that we have the same whirlpool duet dryer problems that are mentioned by all.  We have had at least 9 visits since September.  We have had our Vent people check the vents, clean the vents, recheck the vents x3.  The repair people have replaced the mother board, replaced the fuse, thermostat, thermister on each visit.  We have had the plug moved to be closer to the dryer. We have spent the cost of the dryer on the Vent checks and plug movement, yet the dryer continues to break and no one declares it a lemon.  Are all the duet dryers lemons? It is making me crazy

I need help fixing my 5 year old dryer. whirlpool duet model GEW9200LW1. I have replaced the thermistor. I tested (with an ohm meter) the heating coil, thermal fuse, high limit thermostat, & heating element and they were all fine. I replaced the electronic control assembly and the user interface. THE DRYER STILL WONT HEAT.
Then it occurred to me that the sensor may not allow the dryer to heat if its not sensing wet. Could this be true? Have I been trouble shooting this wrong?
Help me.

MAKE SURE YOUR VENT ISNT CLOGGED AND YOU HAVE 220 VOLTS AT THE DRYER IF ALL THIS CHECKS OUT GO TO ELEMENT WHICH IS BEHIND THE LOWER PANEL IN THE FRONT.REMOVE THE PANEL WITH THREE SCREWS ON THE BOTTOM AND TAP DOWN AND OUT AT THE SAME TIME. USE A VOLT OHM METER AND CHECK OHMS ACROSS THE TERMINALS OF THE HEATER IT SHOULD HAVE A OHM READING IF NOT CHANGE HEATER AND OPERATING THERMOSTAT GOOD LUCK

Check out the site called "repairclinic" dot com and enter your dryer's make and model. The site covers most of the problems one will find with their dryer as well as other appliances. 99% of the time, your problem will be with the THERMAL FUSE. It allows the drum to turn but won't ignite the gas. Located near the lint removal tunnel at the back of the machine, replace it for about $15 and see what happens! Gas dryers only have a few parts that can be the culprit.

Its beren stated this is an ELECTRIC dryer, so gas dryer suggestions won't help.

Whirlpool duet dryer

Run the dryer for 2-5 minutes. Check to see if it has heat inside. If not, you have an internal problem.
If heat is generated, check your dryer lint trap. It must be clean before every dry cycle to dry properly and efficently. If the trap is clean and heat is generated, check the tubes behind the dryer for disposing of the lint.

My Whirlpool gas dryer is not working

Instructions

1
Check that the dryer door is closing completely. Remove anything that blocks the dryer door from closing.
2
Ensure the "Start" button is pressed firmly to start the dryer cycle, the dryer is not overloaded and the clothing is not balled up. Any of these things can prevent the dryer from operating and/or drying the clothes.

3
Use a level to confirm your Whirlpool dryer is sitting flatly and evenly on the ground. Adjust the dryer as necessary for it to be level as the dryer will vibrate and make unnecessary noise when sitting unevenly.
4
Examine the inside of the Whirlpool dryer drum and in the space around the drum for loose change, pens, hair ties and other items that could have been left in the pockets of clothing. These items will cause noise and potentially cause the dryer to become inoperable.
5
Examine the Whirlpool dryer's lint trap for excess lint. Remove any lint from the trap and place it back into position. Always clean the lint trap between dryer cycles. Inspect the area around the dryer and in the ventilation and exhaust systems. Remove any built up lint and clean the area thoroughly. Built up lint is a fire hazard and can cause operating issues.
6
Check the gas shutoff valve if your Whirlpool dryer is gas powered. Ensure the shutoff valve is turned all the way to the "On" position.
7Check the electric plug and ensure it fits securely in the outlet.
8
inspect both the fuse box and circuit breaker for any electrical problems. Replace any blown fuses, if necessary, and reset the circuit breaker if it has been tripp

Hi, the dryer keeps stopping (the timer jumps), only runs for about 10 mins at a time AND the part that worries me the most is that I haven't had to empty the lint trap which I usually do after e

sounds like the vent tubing is not hooked up as it should be and that can cause a lot of lint buildup inside of the dryer parts. take it apart again and clean out all of the lint because this is a fire hazard. make sure that the vent is connected to the lint trap and try working it again. it sounds like maybe the buildup of lint is making the drying hard to do.

I have an Maytag model # MAEDZ600TW2 Epic Z Electric dryer , the drum turns but no heat , circut breakers were checked , lint screen is clean , btw , date of purchase was 3/23/09

There are 2 common reasons your dryer will not heat.
1. Your limit switch is out on the dryer not allowing the heating element to switch on.
2. Your heating element is out.

before you try to fix this yourself it should be covered by warranty.

Duet front loader dryer

Check the lint trap and the vent. If the vent is clogged or crushed in anyway then replace it with a new dryer vent.
There reasons why a dryer will not dry clothes:
Clogged Lint Trap
Crushed or clogged vent
Last but not your issue, not getting and heat to the unit due to glow ignitor bad or no gas supply or bad gas valve.
So check what I told you and this should fix the problem right away
