Sony Audio Optical Out to Bose Optical In not working

I have a Sony SXRD.XBR code kds-r50xbr1 and a Bose lifestyle system. I have run my HDMI cables from my cable box and my ps3 into the TV. Then I want to connect to my BOSE system. I assume that I should use the digital audio optical out connector to get the best sound to my bose. However, I cannot get the digital optical out to work at all from the TV. If I connect the cable box directly to the bose it works, sames goes with the PS3. However, my bose system has only one optical in slot, so I was hoping to use the TV so I can listen to both as digital sound. Why would this not work (ps, I've gone into my settings for all of the components and followed the instructions, such as turning speaker off on the sony tv to access the audio out option)

Tried connecting using digital output cable from Bose to TV and there is no sound. It works if I choose to connect from Bose to Directv box or xbox 360. I would like to hook it up directly to TV.

Bose Lifestyle v30 home theater connected to a Sony Blu-ray player - lately when I switch to DVD, the Bose system switches from PCM 2.0 to AAC and kills the sound. Help!

It sounds like there may be a compatibility issue between your Bose Lifestyle V30 home theater system and the Sony Blu-ray player when switching to the DVD input. The change from PCM 2.0 to AAC audio format might be causing the loss of sound. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue: Check Blu-ray Player Audio Settings: Access the audio settings on your Sony Blu-ray player and ensure it is set to output PCM audio (if available). Some Blu-ray players have options to change the audio output format. Setting it to PCM 2.0 might help maintain audio compatibility with your Bose system. Check Bose System Settings: Review the audio settings on your Bose Lifestyle V30 system related to the DVD input. Make sure it is configured to accept PCM audio. Refer to the Bose user manual for instructions on how to access and adjust the audio settings. Firmware Updates: Check if there are any firmware updates available for both the Sony Blu-ray player and the Bose Lifestyle V30 system. Manufacturers often release updates to address compatibility issues and improve overall performance. Reset Bose System: Try performing a factory reset on your Bose Lifestyle V30. This can sometimes clear any configuration issues that may have arisen. Test Different Audio Inputs: Check if the issue persists when connecting the Blu-ray player to a different audio input on your Bose system (e.g., AUX, HDMI, etc.). This will help determine if the problem is specific to the DVD input or if it affects multiple inputs. Alternate Audio Connection: If possible, try using a different audio connection between the Blu-ray player and the Bose system. For example, if you are using HDMI, try using optical or analog audio cables (and vice versa). Contact Bose Support: If the issue persist

A ps3 and tried hooking it up with hdmi to the 'vcr' connection on the vs-2 of the bose Lifestyle 48 but i don't get any audio (video is fine). hooked up the ps3 with hdmi directly to the tv and get both...

hook up computer straight to t.v with hdmi cable. then get two aux cables (usually red and white) and run them straight from tv audio OUTPUT to audio INPUT on bose system. them anytime you want surround sound even when your watching tv just press the aux button on the bose system controller. should be perfect.

Pretty much the same problem

I have the same system. I have a Lifestyle and a Sony TV with a Samsung Blueray player. I also have an X-box 360, plus my pc with all my CDs (I-tunes) plays through my bose. Do this:

1. Use the optical cable for the blueray player to the Bose (AUX).
2. Use a digital audio cable from the cable box (either black or orange output) to the Bose CBL-SAT digital input. (it's a single audio cable)
3. For my PC, I'm using a digital cable from the pc to the Bose. I'm using the TV output because it's empty.
4. For my x-box (which I'm not too happy about) I'm using regular red-white audio cables from Bose TV input directly to the TV audio out. (You can play all of the above through this channel, but don't).

I figured the most important high quality sound should come from the blueray player and from watching regular cable tv. For picture, you should be using all HDMI connections.

Hope this helps.

Connecting lifestyle 27/38 to psp3

Your Bose system doesn't lead sound trough hdmi.
You must connect the optical cable with your lifestyle.
Change the sound connectionsettings in the menu of your ps3.

You also need to assgn the optical connection in the setup menu of the lifesyle. e.g. optical=aux.
