New Maytag washing machine, but hot water only comes out in pulses. Cold water works fine. Unsure what's wrong.

Check the hose washer on the washer end of the fill hose. (there is probably a screen in it that may have dirt in it. Clean it if this is the case) Are you positive yout hot water valve is turned all the way on?

You may have to remove the valve stem to check the washer which may have come loose.

Turn the water off before you take the top off the valve!!!!

my last two washing machines, totally different brands and types, did the exact same thing. It must be a new way of setting them up, I don't understand either. I can't get straight hot water. Pull the washer out from the wall and disconnect the water lines from the washer. Check to see if a build-up of minerals is clogging the screen on the cold water line where it enters the washing machine.

NO COLD BUT ONLY HOT WATER ENTERS WASHER
here's no cold water Some washing machines allow cold water to enter only during certain cycles. Others intermittently allow hot and cold to enter, to temper the temperature of the water. Consult your owner's manual if you are unsure about whether the machine is acting abnormally.

If you're sure the machine is not working the way it used to--or should--check the following.

  • Is the cold water turned on? If not, turn it on.


  • Is the washer getting hot water but no cold water? If so, check to see if the control panel settings are correct.


  • Is there cold water coming through the proper hose? If not, check to see if the screen inside the water-inlet valve is clean. (The water-inlet valve is the device on the washing machine that the fill hoses are attached to.) If it's clean, you probably have a defective water-inlet valve. If so, you need to replace the valve.
