Starting dryer When I press the start button it makes a humming sound. Sometimes it starts, and sometimes it don't. It's not starting hardly at all anymore. It's only started doing this about 5 loads ago. I'm sorry!  I don't know how the Zanussi all-in-one got put in place of my Matag  Nuptune front load dryer. I have a Whirlpool electric dryer that suddenly stop working LER5636LQR. Please advise. Vic,

I have a maytag dryer that sometimes when I hit the start button will start and run for only a few minutes and stop and wont start again for a while and does a humming noise when it does star why?

Sounds like the motor is going into thermal overload (Getting hot) it may be caused by the motor itself, or could be overloaded by bearings or fan etc

Dryer sometimes works and sometimes doesn't, what's the problem?

i have a feeling that it's a fault in the power chord, take it out and double check. it would make sense if it only work now and then after you have plugged it back in because it could have made the wires touch again to make it work

Dryer hit start button and it hums

sounds like a motor is going bad or you have a sock in the blower fan but if it was a sock, it wouldn't work at all

I have a kenmore 90 gas dryer modal # 110-77904792, the dryer gets power but wont start when you push the power button, it makes a humming sound?

possible could be the drum motor depending on type of hum. if a motor is trying to start sometimes will make that sound

When the button is pressed to start the dryer it begins to hum as iff the drum is stuck. It does this for about 5 to 10 seconds then shuts off. If I attempt to start it again nothing happens. sound like...

If you hear the motor humming and not starting at all it most likely has a severe friction problem with the drum or motor. It could possibly have some type of garment jamming the blower wheel preventing the motor from starting too.

Open the dryer door and manually rotate the dryer drum counter clockwise (CCW). It should take very little effort to rotate the drum. If it's hard to rotate that could explain why the motor hums instead of starting up. If it turns freely, shut the door and see if will start. If it still hums and not start it may have bad motor or a low voltage supply to the motor.
