The F21 error code indicates a long drain. Here are some tips that should help you resolve this problem:
Check your washer drain to make sure that it is draining properly.
Check the drain hose for kinks and clogs. Make sure that it is installed properly per the instructions in your owner's manual. An improperly installed drain hose can prevent the washer from draining properly.
Check for excessive suds in the washer tub. Excessive suds can prevent the washer from draining properly and will result in the F21 code. Make sure that you are using the proper amount of HE (High Efficiency) detergent to prevent excessive suds.
Place a shallow pan on the floor beside the washer and then pull the drain hose out and place the end of it in the shallow pan to see if the washer will gravity drain. If it does, then excessive suds or a drain pump problem could be causing this failure. If the water does not drain or drains extremely slowly, you could have a clog in the drain system of the washer. Follow these steps to check for a clog in the large item filter of the pump:
Unplug the washer.
Remove the bottom front service panel as shown in the first image below.
Since the washer door is likely still locked, you can manually unlock it by carefully reaching up along the front panel and pulling down on the manual release tab of the door lock assembly until it clicks. You can then open the washer door.
Remove any clothes and then use a wet/dry shop vac to drain any water out of the washer.
Arrange shallow pans and/or towel in front of the large item filter shown in the second image below to catch residual water when you remove this filter.
Remove the large item filter as shown below. It is likely that you will find a clog in this area that is preventing your washer from draining.
If you do not find any clog or restriction in the large item filter and none of the other issues discussed above apply to your situation, then you could have a failed drain pump. If the pump is damaged and will not pump out water then it will need to be replaced.
These tips should help you resolve the F21 error code issue in your washer. If you need more help, resubmit your question with additional details.
hi - I have often come across defective hoses further up along the sides of the machines - a result usually from constant rubbing onto the frame work amongst others.
The design would indicate other defects if present - if the air vaccum breather for level control or the hose defective it will have overfill amongst others - constant leak on to the floor through out the cycle - same would apply to a crack in the outer bowl - pump errors would show up if that's faulty.
Have found duct tape effective for these minor issues - the cost of replacements could be horrendous if a serviceman was to replace the harness..
Check you filter and screen .Check whether you need an replacement for them.
If you dishwasher has foam coming out from under the door, then the problem is that dish soap somehow ended up in the dishwasher or excessive rinse aid . It is not recommended to prewash the dishes before loading them into the dishwasher as only a small amount of dish soap can cause the sudsing that you experienced. Only detergent specifically designed for automatic dishwashers such as Electrasol®, Cascade® or Cascade Complete® should be used. Spilling rinse aid while filling the dispenser will cause sudsing also.
To clear the suds from the dishwasher sprinkle several tablespoons of non-dairy coffee creamer over the suds. The fat in the creamer will help break down the bubbles. Wait five minutes for the suds to lessen.
Many pump leaks happen around the seal on the pulley. Some pumps have a
weep hole that lets water drip out when this seal begins to go bad. The
solution is to rebuild or replace the pump.
You'll want to confirm that the fill hoses are connected and properly
tightened. Always use new rubber washers when re-installing the hoses.
Take care not to over-tighten the connection. Other leaks may be caused
by the drain hose being cracked, or by a leaky connection at the
water-inlet valve. Too many suds may cause the appearance of a leak when
actually it's just a sudsy overflow. Sometimes a drain hose leak occurs
at the end of the hose where it attaches to the washer. If the hose is
long enough you can cut the leaky end off and re-clamp the hose back on.
Usually though, when a hose begins to leak, it is best to just replace
the hose.
Hello. If water is leaking from your washer, check the list below:
Is the drain clogged? If you have a clogged drain, it will need to be cleaned – contact a local plumber if necessary.
Is the drain hose restricted, or out of the standpipe? If the drain hose is out of the standpipe, you’ll need to secure it. You can do this by bending the end to form a hook, placing the hooked end into the standpipe, and tying the hose to the standpipe or a faucet with a cable tie (one was supplied with the washer), strong filament tape, or duct tape.
Are the fill hose connections loose at the faucet or washer? Check them and tighten the hose connections. If they’re loose, you might need to install or replace the rubber sealing washers.
Are you using a high-sudsing detergent or is your water soft? Using a high-sudsing detergent, or using too much detergent in soft water, can cause suds to overflow the washer. This may seem like a leak if the suds flow or drip onto the floor. Use a low-sudsing detergent and reduce the amount of detergent you use if your water is soft.
If its leaking by that amount there will almost certainly be a pipe that has pulled loose somewhere at the soap box due to the soap suds leaking over the floor. To see the workings, remove the top lid and start a cycle and observe. Go from there.
Ether the washer is over filling or has warn out the seals. If it has been abused (overloaded) it needs serious work. other wise the sensor may be stuck. Try 1/2 cup of vinegar with a load and see if that cleans the sensor travel area past the drum but inside the tub. This is a common problem for an old machine. Best leak is on the door and you may be able to tighten the screws but be careful it could mis aligne it so tighten a small amount and test by closeing the door. Do this at least twice before turning the screws hard.
Can you describe WHERE the leak may be coming from? If the leak is coming from the front area of the washer, it may be the door bellow (rubber gasket), or the drain pump. You will need to open the door and pull back the folds in the rubber gasket and inspect for cracks or tears in the rubber. To inspect the pump, you need to remove the bottom panel under the door and look for any leaks inside the unit. The drain pump is in the front, directly under the wash tub. Also check all hose connections. If the washer is leaking from the rear area, check the fill hoses and drain hoses for cracks or holes. Make sure all hose connections are tight. The fill valve is another possiblity too. You will need to remove the top panel to view the valve to ensure it is not dripping. Please verify your symptoms and let me know. I hope this helps.
If the hoses at the back are not leaking, you need to check the drain hose lines, aksi check that the machine is not dripping from the inlet valve hose, or because of a leak from the door gasket.
