Hi guys, i bought a humminbird 240 a year ago, just got it out of the box. ofcourse the waranty in outdated.... and it won't turn on... no beeps, no screen, nothing.... any idea?
Hi!
If your 220 is in portable configuration (runs on 8 'AA' batteries) make sure that the batteries are 1.5 volts and not 1.2 or 1.3 volts. (1.2V times 8 batteries is only 9.6V)
Also check the battery compartment as we see leakage from some batteries which corrodes the connector plates that the batteries hook up to.
One more thing...check to see that the power cord is plugged into the unit with the notch in the plug pointing UP. The rubber plug housing on the sounder allows the cord to be plugged in backwards if it's forced a litlle bit.
Best of luck!

hi mike,
my unit is not portable. it runs on 12v and has both the transducer cable and the power cable. i've been careful to plug the power correctly, thus, i've followed the troubleshooting for the specific problem.
once the same thing happened to my garmin 198, and the thing was that someone had messed around with the screen's brightness....
however, with the hb, there's no sign of life. i even tried out running it through the tester to se if the voltage dropped below 12v during power on... but no, powerwise it's all green light.
so i'm starting to believe that this is a factory problem, that it is simply broken. however, someone always seems to have had the same problem and found the solution to it. jejeje.
thanks.
rodolfo.
