I have a Maytag dryer which uses gas for drying,but I moved to a new house where gas is not availlable in the laundry room,what should i do?

The valve resistance is 1995 ohms and the ignitor is 185.

Reducing the length of the vent or starting a second cycle becomes necessary to fully dry the clothing.
If a second cycle was started---only the amount of time that is needed to dry laundry will be used before dropping to 6 minutes and then the cycle will end with dry laundry.

If fabric softener sheets are used in the dryer--clean the two stainless steel strips of metal on the lint filter housing with a SCOTCHBRITE PAD--scrub back & forth several times to remove the waxy residue from the fabric softener sheets. Most,if not all manufacturers do *not* recommend using sheets in dryers that have a moisture sensor (electrodes).
However--using a SCOTCHBRITE pad keeps the wax off those sensors which can be seen if looking *into* the dryer drum and at the lint filter housing.
If only *liquid* fabric softener is used in the washer--clean the dryer sensors once a month. Liquid softener also contains wax which can slowly accumulate on the dryer sensors from the laundry washed in the washer.

Its never a good idea to leave a clothes dryer unattended. They are often a source of house fires. Is it a gas dryer? Maybe a gas leak, do not use until checked by a qualified person. If electric tumble dryer, then maybe the smell was caused by some lint collected around the heater element, and it eventually scorches and stinks like that. Either way,get it checked by a profession qualified person, don't risk a fire in your house! Hope this helps, good luck.

self help is right .first i would try a load with out the ducting.if you have good air flow and still didn't dry[because now youv'e elimanated the house venting as a possiable.replace your coils

Check in the hole where the screen goes for blockage. Many times debries falls in there when removing screen. It cant make it out of the vent so it builds up and clogs the vent.

need to know if its gas or electric, easy way to tell is to look at the power cord going into the dryer, does it plug in next to the washer or does it have a thicker heavier plug near the floor? thicker plug means its electric, smaller cord means gas. Dryers are dangerous appliances. If you have any doubt what yoru doing stop and write here or call a pro. Be careful to shut the breaker off in the fuse box or shut the gas off outside the house before you do anything else. Most likely if its electric the element burnt and you need a new assembly, or if its gas has their been a disruption of gas service lately? How ******* is your laundry room? You should always leave the door open to your laundry room so the dryer can breathe. If you come to find that your laundry room may not have enough airflow, the thermocouple in a gas dryer will go if it cant breathe also. let us know
