The dealer lock feature was intended to prevent theft of discs when on display at the retail location. To shut it off, you press and hold the "stop" button on the front panel of the player. While holding that, simultaneously press the "power" button on the remote control. You can release both buttons now. A message will say "dealer lock off" and now you can eject the disc.

I had this error code as well. Here's the solution that ended up working for me:
  1. Eject the disc tray and remove any disc from the console.
  2. Important: Do not close the disc tray. Leave it open.
  3. With the disc tray open, remove the power cord from the back of the console.
  4. Gently push the disc tray about half-way back into the console.
  5. Plug the power cord back into the console.
  6. Push the power button on the console. The tray should close the rest of the way, then the console should restart and display the Xbox Dashboard.
  7. Important Do not use the controller or the disc eject button to turn on the console.
  8. Try updating your console software again.
What this does is put the DVD drive into Mode-B, which is an alternate operating state that allows the drive's physical memory banks to be flashed with new firmware. Because the latest XBL update involves flashing the drive with new firmware, you may need to physically put the drive in Mode-B. The latest update flashes the drive to make it compatible with Microsoft's new high-capacity disc format, XGD3, which will be used sometime in the future.

Disc jam

Hello there,

To manually remove any disk from your ROM tray, simply use a paper clip or any straight wire that can reach up to at least 2 inches long.

1) straighten paper clip.
2) look for the manual eject hole which is usually located near the eject button.
3) insert the pin/clip and push firmly to eject the tray.

Hope this helps.

The dvd drawer on my BD-HP16U is stuck in closed position. The screen display "hold" when I push the eject button.

Try inserting a small pin through the hole beneath the insertion cabin, after pressing the eject button. If you don't have such a hole, Push the eject button and tap hardly on the top of the player. The drive will come out in two or three attempts.

The Disc Tray Will Not Open And/Or There Is A Disc Stuck In The Player. spacer.gif Some DVD Players manufactured prior to 2003 have a Dealer Lock or Child Lock function. This will prevent the panel buttons from operating.

This function is activated by pressing the STOP button on the front panel
and the POWER button on the remote control simultaneously for four seconds in the power on state. Repeating this sequence releases the dealer lock. When the dealer lock in activated, DEALER LOCK ON or DEALER LOCK OFF scrolls on the display.

If this does not resolve your problem there may be an error with in the player. To resolve this try the following these steps:
  1. Unplug the DVD player from the electrical outlet and leave it unplugged for thirty seconds.
  2. Plug the DVD player back in to the electrical outlet, but do not turn the DVD player on.
  3. With the DVD player off, press the [Open/Close] button on the front of the DVD player. The home theater should power on when you press the [Open/Close] button and eject the tray.
The second option worked for me...

Disc Tray Will Not Eject

Just next to the eject button on the actual recorder there should be a tiny pinhole.  If you use a small paperclip and insert it, then push, you should be able to manually eject the DVD.  Hope this helps!
