The card may be almost full. The battery may be low. The card may be a slow speed (they come in different speeds) You may be taking pictures at the highest resolution setting which makes the camera work harder.

When using the flash is takes 4/5 seconds before I can take another picture. The taken photo appears for about 1 second then the screen goes black for 4/5 seconds before I can take another picture

Friend,

You are using a 10 MP camera. Imagine the size of the picture taken. It is massive. And so would the size in megabytes. To save those many MBs is a time consuming affair. that is what takes 4 to 5 seconds. And during that time the camera can do nothing else.

Do not worry. The camera is fine. Just that you have a very good camera and do not realize it.

As regards the photo being visible for a second only, you can change the settings and have the picture on display for a longer duration. That would be fine as while you are viewing the pic, the camera is busy saving the pic file. You would not feel those 4 to 5 seconds at all.

Cannot take pictures thru lcd screen on d40x DSLR

The D40x is not capable of Liveview - i.e. looking at the LCD to take a picture. You are mistaken.
If you want Liveview, you need to buy the D3 or D300 cameras. The D40x is an entry-level camera.

My canon Rebel XTi keeps flashing busy and won't let me take a picture

I just called Canon because I was having the same problem. They suggested putting the camera in the sports mode. The reason it flashes busy is because there is a buffer period after taking pictures where the camera needs to store the information to the disk or if using a flash, then the flash needs to recharge. If you have plenty of natural light, then the full auto (the green square) mode can be selected because the flash won't have to recharge. If you are using the portait mode, then you will have to wait for the buffer period for the flash to recharge and the information to be stored to the disk.

Exilm EX-Z60 black LCD screen

Do you still have the pics on the memory card? If you do take the mem card out and the "format" the internal memory of your camera and then reset it. See if that helps if not you are going to have to Call the repairs center at 800-706-2534 and then keep choosing option 1. Take mem card out. Turn on camera press menu go to setup tab go up until you see format press right arrow and highlight format press set...it will say "Busy, please wait" Once you are back to where you can take pics press menu go to setup tab go up to reset press right arrow & highlight reset press set. See if that works for you.

Viewing is fine, taking pictures is not

This sounds like what started happening with my camera a few weeks ago. I found that turning the LCD screen off during picture-taking allows me to take pictures. I then have to go into review mode to look at the pictures I took using the LCD screen. Definitely not a great fix. I'm trying to locate a firmware upgrade that may solve it.
