Sony TV picture statred going off and on. Unit also takes about two minutes after power down for screen to work. Model is 6 years old.
What is the problem?
I have the same problem. Picture cuts out completely then back on. When I first turn it on, it does this constantly for about 15-20 mins, then about once every 30 mins or so. The sound is fine, but the picture just flashes on and off.
The color is also starting to shift a lot and cannot be fixed by adjusting COLOR-BRIGHTNESS-PICTURE in the video control menu system. Nothing seems to correct this. I've even unplugged the TV over night to see if it needed some sort of reset. Model = KV-20FV12. Purchased in 2004
My connection is a direct cable connection - Comcast cable. Same problem persist while showing a DVD as well.

When turning on my 32" Sony TV the picture goes on and off for about 2 mintues before working properly. I purchased set about 8-10 years ago.
Picture flashes on and off constantly when watching cable. However, this does not happen when watching a DVD. There is no problem with the cable. it has been checked by Comcast.

I have a Sony KV-24FV12. My picture blacks out and comes back on constantly and sound is OK. I have Comcast and connection is fine. This also occurs viewing DVD's. I noticed that this occurs when a light or whitish object appears on the screen. I can stop the blacking out by reducing the brightness way down but then the picture becomes too dark and tiring on the eyes and unenjoyable to watch. I tried the power disconnect reset technique as suggested by Sony. Did not solve problem. I believe this problem is an inherent flaw with this chassis and should warrent a recall. But in the meantime, how can this problem be resolved?
