Sony Plasma 42 fwd-42pv1 interference / spots

I have a 1 year old fwd-42pv1 which has developed small red & green interference / noise spots on the display.
The spots only appear when the screen is active (i.e. no picture, no spots)

It started intermittently, but has become worse over the last 2 months - I have tried using different inputs (component, analogue), but it has made no difference.

I have these noise lines on my Sony Plasma. It is slightly older but the lines occur at all times when the TV is on. It looks like you would need to adjust some sort of Rabbit Ears to get the picture right again (obviously there are no rabbit ears) Please say my 4K TV hasn't reached it's half life??? Talk to me.

I have the same problem, green and red flickering spots on the right 25% of the picture. Seems to be getting worse.

I have been experiencing the same problem. It's not very apparent, except when you're standing in front of the tv within 8ft; Then, it is very obvious that the middle third of the Sony Fwd-42pv1 monitor has alot of red and green "sparkles."

I have it hooked up to a cable box putting out HD Tv via the component cable to SVGA connector that came with the monitor. I also have my PS3 connected via HDMI to DVI. And finally, I have my Wii connected via S-video cable. When I'm at viewing distance (on my couch,) the sparkles are not visible. The monitor is actually pretty good and I'm happy with it overall and for the money. My Pioneer 42" plasma is sharper and does not suffer from the same sparkle issue.

Sony FWD-42pv1 wont turn on

You have to check all the output voltages outputs from the main power regulator section. Really, this is a very skilled work, in case of Plasma displays. It is best to contact any service technician. Products powered by electricity should be serviced or repaired only by experienced professional technicians. Any attempt to service or repair the product by anyone else could result in serious injury or death. If you are not familiar with electronics, do not attempt to repair. Whether you suffer fatal electrical shock. Instead, contact the nearest service centre.

My ten year old sony plasma tv has vertical herring bone lines no picture just color lines. Is my picture tube gone.

If its 10 years old boards and or parts will likely not be available--average life on Plasma and LCD sets is 3-5 years.

I would retire it--recycle it and buy a new set.

Hello,
Your power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics’ and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Take care.....

Sony pfm 42 v1 plasma. the switch seems to have stope working? Used to have a red light on standby & green when powered on. Now nothing at all

It might be the problem of your receiver (the one which is inside the television). Check whether it is working and if not get it replaced.

Green and red dots? it's fixable?

You have dead pixels on your flat screen.
I think best way is call manufacturer. Hoping they'll fix it for free.

Sony FWD-42PV1 -

I diagnosed the same problem on my FWD-42pv1 as a problem on the Y-SUS board. The fuse on that board was blown, and the board itself was bad (replacing the fuse was not enough to fix it). The symptoms were exactly the same - the LED cycling red/green, and then finally stuck at red.

With a new Y-SUS board, the TV has been working fine for a couple months.
