The most common reason for the DVD not reading discs is a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:
store.richspsxparts.com/wiiredvddr
This drive should fix any reading issues you are having with your DVD plate, or issues inserting your games or ejecting them (or lack thereof). This is the entire DVD drive assembly mechanism replacement for your DVD including a new laser. If your discs are not ejecting, or you cannot insert a disc -- or you can insert a disc but it will not load, this is what you need to get your DVD on your TV Combo going again! Hope this help...
There are a number of possibllities for this problem:
1. Your drive may be dirty. Try to get a drive cleaner, run it then try again
2. The disc itself is faulty. Try using it on another computer's drive and see if you can read it
3. It is a region-specific DVD. Some movies can only be played on DVD's made for that region. Although you can change your DVD's region to be able to read that DVD, you will then not be able to read DVD's for your current region. The recommendation here is to buy a multi-region DVD player. You do not need to get the top of the line model as these players can be quite cheap.

Hello there...
Sony seems a choosy brand so it looks like your disc is not recognized by it. Check also your disc for scratches or you just need to clean your disc first before you can use it. Try it. If this doesn't help, try inserting your disc to other CD-ROM. See if your disc is okay. Hope this helps...
Ai-ai :)
First clean the CD/DVD head by cd/dvd cleaner. If that doesnt work then probably you will need to get its read write head aligned or get the drive changed totally.
1. this is usually due to the laser reader in the CD or DVD drive has failed or the disks are dirty or scratched. or the DVD drive isn't capable of reading the disks at a certain speed and need replacement . 2. of the DVD cable has become disconnected at the motherboard connection. 3.DVD drive may need replacement.
You might try unistalling the drivers and reinstalling them from the device manager. However, this sounds like a harware issue, your DVD drive may be shot.
