Take off the battery compartment for the Wii Remote, and you should see a small red sync button. While the Wii is on, open up the flap for the SD cards, and you should see a red sync button on the Nintendo Wii. While holding the red sync button for the Wii Remote, press and hold the red sync button on the Nintendo Wii. After a few seconds, put the battery cover back on, and test the Wii Remote. Have any questions, feel free to ask. Use the add more details part in your question to ask any more questions. Thank you and have a good day.

butterflys1, maybe your controller is faulty. Try replacing it or opening up and cleaning out your current Wiimote. You will need a Tri-Wing Screwdriver to open it up. You can get them for very cheap on Ebay.

To reprogram a wii remote, or program a new one, I first learned that you should try to have all of your other wii remotes turned on.

Then the instructions are as follows:

1. Press the power button on the Wii console to turn it on.

2. Remove the battery cover on the back of the remote. Press and RELEASE the sync button inside the cover. The player LEDs will blink.

3. Open the SD Card Slot on the front of the Wii console. Press and RELEASE the sync button inside the compartment.

4. When the Player LED blinking stops, the connection is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number.

Yes, poress the sync buttons as indicated, but after releasing sync buttons you must select the controller number by pressing either 1 or 2....this should complete the programming

Can't remember how to program remote to console

There is a red button in the battery tray of the remote and also a red button on the front lid of the Wii Console. Press both of those and they will sync up to each other.

We used the remote on another machine and now we cant program ours back in to our machine

When you bring the remote back to your system you have to open the flap on front of the Wii and hit sync, and then hit sync on the remote in question.

How do you use a new remote without a old remote to program it

press and hold 1 & 2 on the controller, and then it should connect and get a player number light.
if that doesn't do it, there is a button underneath the battery cover on the wiimote, and a corresponding button behind the face-cover of the wii console. Push the button on the console, and then push the button on the wiimote. That should do the trick also...

Programing more than one controller

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters Steps for getting your Wii Remote synced:

# 1. Press the Power button on the Wii console to turn it on.

# 2. Open the SD Card Slot cover on the front of the Wii console. Remove the battery cover on the back of the Wii Remote you wish to sync up.

# 3. Press and release the SYNC button on the inside of the SD Card compartment on the console. Press and release the SYNC button just below the batteries on the Wii Remote.

# 4. When the Player LED blinking stops, the syncing is complete. The LED that is illuminated indicates the player number (1 through 4).

Cant add a controller

I had the same problem and called Nintendo support. They had us unplug the wii console for 30 seconds, plug it back in and start the system back up. BEFORE pressing the A button on the health and safety screen, we needed to take the battery cover off of one remote, press the red sync button, then quickly press the sync button on the front of the wii console (in the front - you have to open the flap). Once the single blue light was on at the bottom of the remote, do the same with the other remote (press the sync button on it and then on the wii console). Then the second blue light should be lit on the second remote. Hope that helps!
