Place a new needle in the machine with the flat side to the back.

Raise the presser foot.

Turn the handwheel until the take-up lever is at it's highest position.

Set the top tension to 5.

Re-thread the machine.

Thread gets stuck after second stitch

Let me guess,.... When you start to sew you do not grasp the loose thread ends. Grab them babies and hold on for about an inch or more of sewing.

The bobbin thread wont come up when lowering the needle

The bottom thread won't come up?
Make sure you:
-Have the top threaded and through the eye of the needle (Basics are best to check, I've missed it once or twice! lol)
-Are holding the tail of the top thread when you lower your needle and pull it back up (Hold it too tight though, and it might not grab)
-Have an inch or two of "tail" or extra thread for the needle to grab on your bobbin thread (sometimes it won't grab if there's not much there)
-Have all your lower pieces in and secure. (Mine tend to jump around if I'm not putting 'em in right)
If it's still not grabbing, I'm not sure. Sorry, hope it helps.

My needle does not pick up the bobbin thread. I double checked that I threaded the needle correctly and the bobbin seems to be in the right position. The needle doesn't look like it's making contact with...

Make sure that you have the needle's flat side facing the rear of the machine, or else it will never grab the thread. Also, make sure you hold the top thread in your left hand until it grabs the thread and you pull the bobbin thread up

Needle won't grab thread from bobbin

Sometimes you have inserted the needle wrong, make sure that the needle faces the rear, if that is not it, try a new needle. Make sure that you have threaded the bobbin right, by your manual, and have at least a 6 inch tail, hold your top thread and move your handwheel towards you, not away from you and it will grab the thread. Top threaded needle will not grab bobbin thread so I can begin sewing.

you might check your needle to see if it's bent
check in the bobbin area for any lint or loose threads
make sure there is a bobbin tail at least 2 to 4 inches long
hold the top thread tail ( at least 2-3 inch tail) as the needle goes down
to pick up the bobbin thread

Top & bobbin thread will not sew

Most likely the needle is in backwards. Weird I know, I have no idea why but if the needle is in wrong, it either hits the bobbin and breaks or won't grab the thread at all. Good luck.

Needle won't grab bobbin thread

Check the position of the needle. Some machines have to have the needle in a certain way or they won't pick up the thread from the bobbin. Make sure the screw on the bobbin is tight but not to tight you may have to adjust it a few times to get it where it needs to be. Also make sure the bobbin is wound tight
